LUDACRIS: In The Christmas Spirit

By Karu F. Daniels, AOL Black Voices

Through his charity, The Ludacris Foundation, multi-platinum selling rapper Ludacris has teamed up with the Harley-Davidson brand to hold a Christmas party for 100 children, ages 6 -to- 14, in Atlanta this weekend.

"The Christmas season is all about finding joy in making others happy," the rapper and actor (legally known as Chris Bridges) said. "We give to loved ones and others that are less fortunate than ourselves. This is done without hesitation and this is who and what we are all about.  During the holidays there is no greater gift than the ‘gift of giving’ and putting smiles on the faces of kids."

The Yuletide event is a part of the Foundation's Luda Cares Initiative, which supports kids and families in need during the holiday season.

Since 2001, The Ludacris Foundation has donated over $1,000,000 to non-profit organizations, invested more than 3,500 hours in devoted service and touched over 7,000 lives. The Ludacris Foundation takes pride in "helping youth help themselves."

I thought I would never get a chance to say how disappointed I was in my time of need. Shortly before the Huricane My family became homeless.A single parent of 4 kids one of which that had been born premature shortly after that while I was homeless ....I heard the foundation was helping to find apartments for the victims of the hurricane....I knew it might be a long shot but I called and told them my story ...The lady told me to come in I was so happy. when I got there i was treated so badly......the woman asked me where I was from, looked down her nose at me I felt so badI had told her all this before I came it was almost like she got off on insulting me. I asked her was she kin to luda she replied "We all realted some how aren't we? in a nasty way.I sat there while she told me of all the people she knew who had apartments but quote..." I dont know you from a can of paint and I'm not going to refer you to anyone....I couldn't believe how mean she was to me for no reason I still managed to tell her God bless..I drove an hour almost to see her only to be belittled and humilited...These stars start these foundations and they mean well but the people they have in charge are sometimes on power trips and ego trips choosing to help those they "feel" are worthy the katrina event was a time we could address the homeless issue.and the state of black america...I listened to the radio on the way home. a spokeperson for the foundation was on saying how they had hundreds of apartments just call and they would help.I cried I also slept in my car with my kids that night..smh..Thank God For who he is because now I have my own place I'm in college hoping to go to law school soon with a 4.0 gpa my kids are happy we are blessed one of many things this has taught me trust God because unfortunatly as Tupac once said charity doesn't reach the ghetto...

I think that is a great deed that Ludacris is doing for people that cannot afford to have nice gifts under the tree. The saying is so true, "It is better to give than to receive." A lot of people do not understand that saying or do not agree with it, but when you give to someone and it is from the heart, you will receive a greater blessing from God and I believe that is the greatest gift of all.

There are still people out there that have the warmest heart to do what they can for others. I am one. I am not one to bragg but I go broke for any one who is trying to help themselves but can not. Kids are the future, so help them to become better people and change what is happeing to the world.  If we show them that there are other ways to live and that live does go on after struggles, there is a chance to change the world. What you do for all these kids is amazing.  I do my few things that help out with my few dollars that I have. But keep on giving because eventhough you have so much money, there is always something that you do not have because money does not always help. Just a friendly smile or a simple "howw are you?", can make a difference.  LUV YA.
