JADA PINKETT SMITH: The Money Where The Mouth Is

By Karu F. Daniels, AOL Black Voices

I'm convinced.

Jada Pinkett Smith is an angel of mercy.

Well at least for the Baltimore School for the Arts, whom she just made a $1 million endowment to.

Although the school planned to name its new theater department in honor of the 'Set It Off' actress, she wants it to be dedicated to Tupac Shakur, the rap legend who was shot and killed in 1996.

The 35-year-old actress, who is married to hip-pop superstar and acclaimed actor Will Smith, graduated from the high school in 1989.  Shakur was her fellow classmate.

"It means a lot when you're a teacher and your most famous alumnus comes back to give a donation," offered Donald Hicken, head of the school's theater department since its founding in 1980 and Pinkett Smith's former theater teacher, in an interview with the 'Associated Press.' "It really says a lot to the community that the school matters in people's lives."

The donation is officially from the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation, which is based in Baltimore.

When a $30 million expansion program is finished in the fall of 2007, which announced the donation Monday, the school will increase its enrollment from 316 to 375 students.

We must contine to look out for the good-will of our entire communities. We have to start any and all effords on behalf of our people.

Let's not forget to continue to extend a financial & prayerful hand to the Katrina Victims'. Don't just send in your money but go on down and see for yourself what needs to be done on behalf of all the people. God is watching & we gotta come forward in order to make a difference. Each one must reach one!
