Julane, from  Julia Etta's Trunk, her product MOVES out the door.   Why? Because she has something called a "SELECTION"!  What the other locations lack.  I told David we need to get our stuff in this *craft mall*.  Hate the term, but the fact is I can get it in there on consignment and have somewhere to direct people that want a selection.  Of course half of this is waiting for him to him-haw around whether we should or not. Yet he has given no good logical reason as to why not.  For 68.00 a month we can have a booth, we stock, they keep tidy, and they get 10% of the profits.  But I feel this is the only way to get it moving here in town. David seems to not understand that it is hard to get this product like selling here locally because local people A: don't want to buy online and be charge shipping when they live down the block (we don't allow other to come pick up, tried that, it sucks) and B:  Nobody, okay FEW from my area want to drive to Yellow Springs.

There are times when I wander if I made a mistake selling my heart and business away.  Is all I worked for now put me at the low end of the totem pole as an *employee*?  It feels like it many of times.  But I know that logically my only shot was bringing someone in that I can trust and has a logical and skilled business sense, which David does and I appreciate it.  But dont' ever think behind my smile that we don't butt heads :)

Kids last day of school is today.  I am some orders I'm working on for Julane and now Teresa.  So I will get them out the door.

I will be working on my webpage about sunscreen and hope everyone can take the time to read about, so you can take the first steps to stop wasting your $$$ on sunscreen that isn't giving you FULL COVERAGE!

Subject: Summer is around the bend

Soon the boys will be out of school, so I must finish up some things and figure out how this summer will play out.

I have so many ideas, many ideas and things I want in the next two years. I am grateful this business is holding slow but steady, it must in order for me to be the mom I need and desire to be.

For now, I must concentrate on fine tuning things, labels, brochures, wants for the future, and SAVING $ to add on to this home to have a small 2nd kitchen plus one extra living area for the family (family room).

We are redoing our labels, colors and fonts. It's time to make them each unique.

We had put our focus on the Health Industry, but Julane from "Julia Etta's Trunk" in Yellow Springs Ohio kept telling me that botiques are the direction I need to head.  And her sales have proved it far and above.  I worry about how Julane will take us redoing our containers and such.  But I will swap out all her old stuff for all new labels, so she won't have any of the original labels.  I feel this will really help to increase sales and put us in the right direction visually appealing to the beauty customer.

A not so new idea, but finally on it's way into motion: A brief intro: Then I will back track to explain:
I have been reading all I can about Angelina Jolie and her work as an ambasss. with the UNHCR and then I picked up "MARIE CLAIR" at the gym and read about Drew Barrymore and the WFP. (World Food Program)
And I wrote to the editor that went with Barrymore over to Africa and how it moved me. Here is my email to her. And later I will fill in with details.
Lesley,

Words cannot thank you for what you gave to me in your April article with Drew Barrymore in the fight in Africa with starvation and everything that goes on in areas that most don't want to see. I'm sure you opened many eyes to areas needed.  But with me you made a difference more so.

I had just recently began following many of Angelina Jolies visits, and beliefs, reading what I can on UNHCR and trying to find my own nitch in how I can make a difference when we our family barely makes *ends

meat*.  I had just started reading A. Jolies book "Notes from My Travels" and was on the way to the gym with my book.  I got inside and hopped on my cardio machine to realize I had forgotten my book.  So I grabbed Marie Clair.  Looking back it was my own sign.
Not only did I make it the 45 min. on the treadmill <smile> I held back tears reading about the struggles of these people in Africa.  I left with an idea and more reading for me to do online.

You see, I own a very small natural skin care line that I developed.  We don't make much, I do it because I love it. You know, a hobby gone out of control and into business.  Well, I wouldn't trade it any other way.  We purchase our pure and unrefined Shea butter from Fair Trade, and it is important for us to do so.  However I never felt it was enough, but something, right?

Because of you bringing light to me (and hopefully many more, and more with more money <bigger smile> We (all of 2 of us owners) at Canyon Sun have decided to donated 10% of the proceeds from our pure Shea butter that is Fair Trad,e directly to the World Food Program quarterly, STARTING TODAY, with online order from this morning!

A small part of me says that 10% isn't much, I use to feel like if I couldn't donate a lot, would it really help?  But wow, your article truly pushed me in the direction I was looking for all along.  And this is the way I can help and still have our family safe and taken care of here in our home.  I am now scrambling for ideas to move this product further so I can do more.  And more importantly, your article showed me that there truly is no to small amount, except none at all.  And I look forward to giving more every way I can, and bringing others outside like I use to be, to see that everything helps.

Thank you Lesley, and Thank you Drew.  You both had an experience that will last every day of your life and know that you moved so many, including me.  And in turn I hope to move others so we can beat the odds over in Africa as well as starvation all over the world :)

Well, I should have started this 2 years ago, to see how far we have come and my thoughts then.  But like everything, there is no going back.

Many times I will fall back to the begining, and this may seem jumbled.

Canyon Sun Skincare is a business I started about 3 years ago.  It became *official* when I found David, my business partner.  He tried a product called "Mositurizing Balm" in his office and was surprised how well everyone liked it (staff).  He had to front the money for his first order, and it was then we became a team.

Since I don't fee much like talking about past, because I'm to excited about the new Whipped Body Butter scent called......Vanilla & Cinnamon.  I was surprised how much I fell in love with this.  It reminds me of summer days along the pool or at the beach.  It has no cocnut, so it's not screaming suntan lotion. In fact I can't pinpoint it.  I don't like spicy stuff, and was never a HUGE fan of Vanilla.  And in this you can't detect the Cinnamon, you wouldn't know it was in their if it wasn't for the name.  Which makes me wander if we should put it on the label, so not to scare potential vanilla lovers off.  Hmmmmmmmm
