IT'S BEEN REAL!

"Home with a Sports Car Parked in Front" Photographic Print

Well I've tested it out moved things around, redecorated and changed the name a few times and now I can finally say for sure that I have a new JOURNAL HOME and I love it! I love the chic updated style and all the additions I can make to it Kody loves it too and I can't see myself wanting to come back to AOL journals they are for the most part behind the times as far as templates and other things that make a journal more personalized.

I know it's all about the writing but I have to like the looks as well I'm just that kind of artsy girl. So, bidding a goodbye to you AOL JOURNAL ..........who knows if things change I may be back but it looks like I can hand in my key, turn off the lights and say take care old friend. Thanks for keeping it real.

MY NEW HOME IS OPEN TO ALL who wish to visit:

I'VE BEEN MOONLIGHTING!

"Sailing in the Moonlight" Photographic Print

Hello readers,

If any of you have stopped by in the last couple of weeks and wondered where I have been ( I know this is a big assumption on my part) Well, I have been moonlighting. That's right I have another journal that I have started to post in. It is pretty much the same as this one but it just looks cleaner and I think it's a step up to how this one looks. It's still ME, the content is on the same line as what I have written here. Come to think of it, I've been with AOL JOURNALS from their fist year. So, I thought it was time to try something new. Anyone who reads this is more than welcomed to read and leave a comments at my new journal over at BLOGGER.COM. Here is the link ( to  leave a comment you have to sign up for a GOOGLE PASSWORD.  They tell you how, it's easy. Hope to see you there!

BEACH~BLANKET~BOOK

In a week or two I hope to be taking my annual trip down to the shore ( that's the way we say beach here in the east) Anyway, along with the boardwalk and the casinos, the hot sand and the sun, there is just no way you can go to the shore without a good book. I have a few in mind to take with me. I will only be taking one but I thought I would  share all of the summer reads that I would like to get to before the fall arrives. Please share any that you will be  reading.

I usually keep my summer reading light and fun, you won't see any heavy weights here.

1. Schooled by Anishia Lankani this book is about a women who is a teacher at a preppy school in New York. She just wants to teach and pass along knowledge to the rich and famous. Well, she should know that won't work. It really sounds like a good one but it won't be out until Aug. 5th. It might be worth the wait.

2.
This one, I have held in my hands many times thinking of buying it. I really don't know why I have not read it already. It seems like the kind of book I would enjoy and now that it will be a movie in the fall, I think it's about time I read it before I see the movie. Most likely, this is the one I will take with me.

3.  Boy! how I used to enjoy reading a Danielle Steel book. Sadly to say, I have not read one in years, and years. They just lost their .......what-ever- it - was- that they used to  have with me. I read a review of this book and what it was about and think I just might give old Dani a try again. Back in the days when I used to read her books one after the other, I was buying them new at the bookstore. Times have changed and I will be buying used, as I have done for a long time now.

4.

I don't know much at all about this writer but I saw this book in the bookstore and it really sounded like a good read. The author has a number of books out so, if I get this one and enjoy it, I will have a bunch of others to read if I chose, it's always nice to find a new author that you enjoy.

Well, like I said, I most likely will be buying The Secret of Bees, unless someone leaves the name of a book they have read or is reading, that they just can't put down and want to share the name of it with me. Just remember, I am really looking for light summer reads but I would never turn down a suspense story that keeps me on the edge or a juicy romance!

THE GOOD AND THE BAD OF ME

"Sad And Happy Cube 4" Photographic Print

We all have our good qualities and our bad. It never hurts to be aware of what they are, so I thought that I would be daring enough to share a bad one here but also add a good one to balance it out.

Now, of course I have more than two but two is all you will get today.

THE GOOD ME is a very reliable, caring friend. I listen well and give pretty good sound advice.

THE BAD ME has the hardest time letting go of a situation when someone has done me wrong. I just can't forget it as fast as I should. My mind just plays it over and over again. Even when I would rather just let it go. I do let things go but not easily.

Ok, there you have it a little look into my psyche, now are you willing to let me have a peek at yours?  Leave it in your comment.

WOW! DID YOU SEE THAT?

6-4,6-4,6-7,6-7,9-7 that is what it takes to dethrone a 5 time consecutive Wimbledon Champion. Just ask Rafa Nadal he played the match of his life, I would say, a tennis match like none other.

Nadal is only the second Spaniard to win at Wimbledon. He is also a four time French Open Champion beating Federer just this past June but this is the first time he has taken King Roger down on his favorite surface, Wimbledon Centre Court.

If you are a tennis fan, today you saw a match for the ages.

So, now that all the dust has cleared, all the strawberries and cream have been eaten, all the rain has subsided, all the upsets, wins and loses are in the recorded books. What is left? Well I have some, if not the best, memories spent watching the Wimbledon Championships this fortnight that I have had in many years. Venus and Serena Williams played a very competitive match and also won a doubles title. They made a total of over $2,000.000.00 in two weeks not bad, not bad at all! Roger and Rafa finished things off making history. Even with all the upsets of the top seeds and just about every American being sent home early, my three favorite players rose to the top and came home with the trophies. I could not ask for anything better than that, other than to have seen it all in person.

V. IS FOR VICTORY!

In the Women's Wimbledon final today between Venus and Serena Williams it was older sister and defending champion, Venus who came away with the win. I have to admit that although I love both Venus and Serena it has always been Venus who has been my favorite of the two. I just feel more in tuned with her personality. Serena being more of the typical baby in a family, she has lots of spirit and charisma. But Venus is more of a quiet soul who is more controlled and refined.

If you watched the match you  could see her holding back on a great big celebration on Center Court, not to hurt her sister's feelings. But then came the trophies or I should say the VENUS ROSEWATER DISH( yes, it really is named Venus) and the big smile was right where it should be, on her face. She is only the third women to win 5 Wimbledon titles in the open era behind Navratilova and Grath who both have more. What a wonderful feat.

And I can't feel too bad for Serena because hours later they both went out on court again, this time as a doubles team and did what they are known for, which is WIN their 3rd Wimbledon Doubles title.

These ladies cleaned up! When the William Sisters are healthy and playing at their best NO ONE is Better.

They ended their time at Wimbledon on just the right note with smiles, as champions and loving sisters.

It was a JOY to watch!

"WE'RE LIKE TWO PEAS IN A POD"

Venus and Serena keeping their winning plans to themselves

in today's doubles match.

As I have said before, I really enjoy tennis ever since I saw Chris Evert on TV when I was a young girl and she broke her diamond bracelet while playing ( hence the name for the bracelet) I knew tennis was for me. You can wear some of the cutest outfits with jewelry and still be playing a sport! What more could a girl want?

Anyway, years have passed and I am still a big tennis fan. Thanks to the Williams' sisters, Venus and Serena I have the opportunity to enjoy two of the best to ever play the game, and they look like me! That's a plus in the tennis world. I often wonder where would the U.S. women's game be without the fact that their father put tennis rackets in their hands so many years ago? There are about a zillion Russian women in the game right now, most are very highly ranked taking up most of the top ten spots with Serbians at 1 and 3. but where are the American Women? Other than Venus and Serena, who are holding strong at about 6 and 7 in the world there are none to be found. Lendsay Davenport is still playing and she will be on the Olympic team but she is at the end of her career married now, with a child. Things don't look good and Venus and Serena themselves are now 27 and 28.

What they have done for the game of tennis I feel does not really get the kind of respect it deserves. Right now, they are the only two Americans left playing at Wimbledon and Venus is the defending Champion. They have literately changed the face of tennis. Serena is the only women in the game that has a GRAND SLAM( Serena Slam) that means winning the Austrian, French, Wimbledon and U.S. OPENS in the same year. and Venus who is a four time Wimbledon champion along with two U.S. OPEN wins, was at the forefront of getting bills passed that gave women equal pay in the slams just last year, for the first time. They are also doubles champs and mixed doubles as well. Not to mention Olympic Gold medal winners in Sydney for doubles and singles for Venus. They are both on the team again this summer.

In my mind, they have done the same thing for tennis as Tiger Woods has done for golf. They have dominated American women's tennis for the last decade. They are the only siblings to ever be ranked #1 in their sport or any other I think but you don't see them having the same kind of respect and endorsements that Tiger gets and deserves. Why is that? I know England would pay to have just one tennis champion like either of them.

All I can say is, their time of playing may soon be over in the next few years and I am glad that I took notice. I am proud that two of the all time greats in the sport of tennis are Americans and African Americans at that. In a sport where people of color were at one time, not even allowed to play.

Now, there is some great tennis being played at Wimbledon on the men's side as well but it's the SISTER'S that are my most favorite to watch. Good Luck to both of them tomorrow.  If they win, An ALL WILLIAMS' FINAL will be played in the singles and they are still alive in the doubles as well.

If you would like to get to know them a bit better read the following interview given after their doubles match today at Wimbledon:

LIVIN SINGLE IN THE 21st CENTURY ( It's not easy)

"A Portrait of a Male African Lion Sitting in the Sun" Photographic Print

I'm a big fan of JUDGE JUDY. Her show is often funny, straight forward and to the point. She's not alwayssssssss right but she sure is most of the time and I like her no nonsense way with her show. Sometimes even that makes me laugh.

Anyway, I was thinking about men. ( talk about a change of topic) but hear me out. I was thinking about men and how on her show you see so many cases of some women standing there asking to get thousands of dollars back from a boyfriend after a break up. You almost never see this same scenario the other way around. Don't guys have money anymore?  Maybe a little pride at least or is that left for the Lion?

Now, I am as liberated as I think I need to be for a women of the 21st century but  I stand by the fact that I will not pay for, or give money to a boyfriend. A few dollars sure, but having to dish out money for his car payment, his rent, his child support??? God forbid, a vacation for the two of us??? That is NOT how I was raised. What kind of man, is a man that would take money from a women anyway?

YES you can say it, I am old fashion. I know. You can call it what you want and YES a good man can be plenty hard to find. So, is that what it has come to? Are we women so desperate to have a man that we come with our purses open just to keep him, sad as he may be, around?  I sure hope not. I don't think my standards for MR. RIGHT are too high, but then again it is a late Saturday night and here I sit in front of a PC. hmmmmmmmm What do you think?

Now I know this entry only reflects a small part of the male population. But it looks to be getting bigger and that is sad.
