TOMORROW I VOTE
I won't get into every reason, these reasons are more on a personal note but I thought I would share a few reasons why I am voting for OBAMA tomorrow. It's not really about me, it is about where I come from. I come from Africa, I come from people who love life family and country. I come from people who were not given an option on whether or not they wanted to come to the land of the free and the brave. I come from slaves. People who could be brought and sold, beaten and hung, just for BEING people, not given the opportunity to read or write, to marry or have a home of their own or even keep their own children. They were not thanked or paid for their work it was just their blood that filled the rivers of this land, their sweat and tears that helped to make this country the great country that it is today. I am voting for
Barack Obama because of my grand mothers, my grand fathers, my great great, great, great, grand, mothers and fathers the people who came before me. Who never had a voice, let alone a vote. I am voting for my grandmother who's picture is above. She never went farther than elementary school, she was married at 14 and had 12 children. She could not write or read well but she knew the bible inside and out. She knew how to left you up when you were down with a grandmother's hug, the soft humming of a hymn, some words of wisdom and an extra large slice of home made anything. She taught me the Lord's prayer and how to braid her hair. She knew how to work hard long hours like her mother and father before her, how it felt to have sisters and brothers taken away just because they could be. She died in 1988 at 105 years old and she never thought there would come a day that her grand daughter would be able to cast a vote to put a man of color, of her color into the white house to be the PRESIDENT OF THESE UNITED STATES. Well, that day has come GRANDMOM and this VOTE is FOR YOU!

I don't know if anyone will understand this entry the way I do. I really don't care one way or the other it is more of something from my heart to honor my generations. I think my vote is for the future as well as the past. If you don't know your past you sure can't see your future. This entry does not tell the whole reason of why I am voting as I am, just a part of it.

Who you vote for is your choice but vote for the future and not the past. I'm not sure which Democrat should be in office but I know that whoever it is will not change the past but will impact the future. Look forward with hope for change for this country certainly needs it. Hugs Lanny
