The Gear Shift

One of the most entertaining and disturbing moments of the show happened at the Chrysler release of the Aspen and Dodge Caliber. To entertain the crowd they had this famous European ‘clown’ troop performing on stage. Now, to get a good sense of what these guys looked like, think of a dirty hobo who hasn’t shaved in 3 weeks, wearing a very large green jacket, floppy shoes that are about 3 feet long at the toes and this strange hat that looks as if it were made out of the musculature of rabbit ears.

The disturbing part for me is that I just don’t like clowns, never have since the movie poltergeist. Actually, does anyone LIKE clowns? On top of that, these specific clowns moved with the alacrity of a tortoise and performed harmless mischief on stage. I did get over my fear and took a snapshot with one of them for your enjoyment.

The entertaining part came when the Dodge Caliber was introduced and while the announcer did his civic duty, the clowns proceeded to steal the spare tire from the car.
