Coolest Introduction of the Show

That award goes to Chrysler for their release of the Aspen SUV. Now, I’m not saying that the actual SUV was the coolest or impressive, because really it looked like a Dodge Durango in a tuxedo, it was the production of the launch that just literally blew people away.

Set the stage with Mr. Hobo Clown that had been around before. He does a little skit about taking a train to a snow covered destination. Once he arrives at his fictional destination, fake snow (in the form of white paper confetti) begins falling from the ceiling. At this point very loud orchestra music begins playing (Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana"), and this isn’t calm stuff here. We’re talking booming, strong and imposing orchestra music. The music begins to crescendo and these extremely bright lights shine from behind the stage walls. The hobo raises his arms into the sky, turns towards the walls and all of a sudden the slide open.

At this point the fun begins. As if happening in slow motion all I can see is this wall of white ‘snow’ hurling towards me, all the while the extremely loud orchestra is blaring and the bright spot lights shining into my eyes. In what must have been 3 seconds, but felt like 30, the paper snow hits my face and utterly blankets everyone and everything. This continues, coupled with a strong wind from what must be huge fans behind the stage, for approximately 30 seconds.

I couldn’t see anything except bright lights and this paper. You actually had to swat it away with your hand. I snapped a couple of really quick pics that help illustrate just how crazy this experience was. More so then standing in it while it was occurring, the wildest part was watching it come towards me! I guess I can liken it to a paper avalanche that you cannot run from.

The snow finally slowed to reveal the blue Apen SUV, which in my opinion was lackluster. The production definitely buried the vehicle in a blizzard, literally and figuratively.
