The Former Veep...Whatta Creep!

Has Al Gore gone totally insane? Watch this speech and decide.

If you don't have a high-speed connection, C-Span will be replaying Gore's Hitleresque...Hitleresque in it's anger and hostile tone, if not its content...speech several times this weekend.Check the link above for C-Span's schedule. In case you have neither a high-speed connection nor cable, here are a few excerpts. Yes, I know...Lileks wrote today that the speech "practically autofisked itself", but gimme a little room here...I cannot help myself.

The abuse of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib flowed directly from the abuse of the truth that characterized the Administration's march to war and the abuse of the trust that had been placed in President Bush by the American people in the aftermath of September 11th.

There was then, there is now and there would have been regardless of what Bush did, a threat of terrorism that we would have to deal with. But instead of making it better, he has made it infinitely worse. We are less safe because of his policies. He has created more anger and righteous indignation against us as Americans than any leader of our country in the 228 years of our existence as a nation -- because of his attitude of contempt for any person, institution or nation who disagrees with him.

I see the contempt here, and it ain't radiating off of the person of George W. Bush.

He has exposed Americans abroad and Americans in every U.S. town and city to a greater danger of attack by terrorists because of his arrogance, willfulness, and bungling at stirring up hornet's nests that pose no threat whatsoever to us. And by then insulting the religion and culture and tradition of people in other countries. And by pursuing policies that have resulted in thedeaths of thousands of innocent men, women and children, all of it done in our name.

As opposed to the innocents murdered, and murdered on purpose rather than as collateral casualties, in the name of Allah? Innocents die in every war. Would Mr. Gore prefer that the thousands of innocent dead continued to be Americans?

A policy based on domination of the rest of the world not only creates enemies for the United States and creates recruits for Al Qaeda, it also undermines the international cooperation that is essential to defeating the efforts of terrorists who wish harm and intimidate Americans.

It is transparently obvious that our goal is not domination of the rest of the world. Where did he get that? Out of his backside, like so many of the charges he hurls here.

Unilateralism, as we have painfully seen in Iraq, is its own reward. Going it alone may satisfy a political instinct but it is dangerous to our military, even without their Commander in Chief taunting terrorists to "bring it on."

Looks like that taunt worked on you, Al.

The same dark spirit of domination has led them to - for the first time in American history - imprison American citizens with no charges, no right to see a lawyer, no right to notify their family, no right to know of what they are accused, and no right to gain access to any court to present an appeal of any sort. The Bush Admistration has even acquired the power to compel librarians to tell them what any American is reading, and to compel them to keep silent about the request - or else the librarians themselves can also be imprisoned.

Of course, the federal government has absolutely no interest in what "any American" is reading, though they are very interested in who is reading books on bomb-making, like The Anarchist's Cookbook or who has logged onto a given library computer to send emails to known Al Qaeda addresses. Besides, the Patriot Act was passed with overwhelming Democratic support. Is Mr. Gore implying that Ted Kennedy's and John Kerry's votes for the Patriot Act were the acts of fiends looking to arrest librarians and imprison readers of Lemony Snicket books? Laughable.

They have launched an unprecedented assault on civil liberties, on the right of the courts to review their actions, on the right of the Congress to have information to how they are spending the public's money and the right of the news media to have information about the policies they are pursuing.

Rubbish. Show me the NPR anchors imprisoned in Bush's gulags or the FBI agents waiting to carry Gore off to prison for treason. Show me Ted Rall in chains, the marks of the whip on Howard Dean's back, and the gaunt, emaciated figure of Michael Moore, near starvation from the diet of leaves and sticks he has been forced to eat in the concentration camp that Bushitler sent him to.

Every American should see this speech on video and reflect what the consequences would have been had this unbalanced man succeeded in his efforts to undo through the courts what the voters of Florida had done.

After September 11th, God's in-box was flooded with prayers of thanks that Al Gore had not become president the previous year. As this speech gets more and more exposure, I'll bet His in-box will start filling up yet again.
