Woderful Adventure
There was an hour to wait this morning, when I first awoke, before my early morning pre-dawn visit to the still dark courtyard. I lay down and dozed and had a wonderfult adventure.
My dream started with me in the courtyard already, in my wheel chair. I got out of my chair to pick up an orange that had fallen from the tree, and my wheelchair rolled back. I found I could WALK well enough to fetch the chair. When I reached the chair, I found it was not mine. Someone else had laft a wheel chair in the courtyard. I looked around for mine and there were half a dozen wheel chairs. As I walked around looking, I realized I was in a different courtyard.
"I will have to walk back to the right one," I thought and began walking. I was limping severely, but did not get tired. Then I realized I was lost. This was another lost dream... but at least I was walking.
I walked down unfamiliar suburban streets in a hilly, posh neighborhood, looking for the old folks home. "It;s on M street," I kept repeating. "All I need to do is find M street." I came to a corner that I recognised. Ah, now I knew which way to go.
I met a young fellow who I recognised as having been to the old folks home. I asked him to show me the way. He said he could not take me there, but he knew the way to a friend's house, and he could take us.
We went to the friend's house and he said "Sure. I can take you." But he only got us more lost than before. As we were seareching we came upon an ATV vehicle. It was open cockpit, and had six wheels. I thought, "I will borrow this, and when I get to the old folks home I will phone the owner and tell him where it is." I was able to start the machine and away the three of us went.
I was slow learning the controls but was able to improve as I went. I was delighted to push the wheel aside and drive with a "joystick" and the little ATV responded beautifully was we wended up and down the hilly streets.
At one point we came to huge rocky ravine. "We can't go down there," one of the fellows shouted, but I drove right into the ravine. The little ATV went faster and faster and the ravine became a gully with huge boulderers. I aimed right at them and down we plunged, one of the six wheels of the ATV came flying off but the plucky rugged machine drove on.
At last we came to level streets again and began looking for home again. I found what appeared to be the back fence of the old folks home. There were some people there who said they were the foster parents of one of the boys. The boy and his foster parents were talking when I woke up.
There was my wheel chair. safe and sound, and I was home.

Wheel chair Stolen
Daytime nap dream. I was in a large Mall in wheel chair. I came to spot where there was a change in elevation and the elevator did not work. I tried going up the stairs but could not manage. I was turning back when a fellow in a power chair tried the stairs and tumbled back. I rushed to help him. While I was out of my chair helping him someone stole my wheel chair.
When I discovered it was gone I was bereft and wept. I was still bemoaning my loss and sitting at the curb trying to figure out how to get home when I woke up. I sure felt good to see my wheel chair right there beside the bed.

Vivid Dream
Still trying to get someplace. This time I started at home. I stood up and found I could walk some. It was such a vivid dream, I told myself, in the dream, that it was NOT a dream. I walked to the end of the hall to the dining room, and the dining room was NOT there. Then I told myself, well, Hell, it has to be a dream.
I looked for the dining room through the complex, now made more complex. It was such a real dream that I told myself several times that I was not dreaming. Yet, when I woke up I was startled to find that it WAS.
It was another dream that lasted over a day in length, yet was dreamed within two hours in an afternoon. Afternoon dreams are the strangest, because you wake up and have no idea what time or DAY it is.

Home Again
Once more, trying to get home. (A home I sold in 1980). I stayed out without telling my grandmother I would not be home. I went to a movie. After the movie I had to walk home. The terrain was all familiar. I woke up before I got home though. I was not "lost" in this one. I knew where home was and was making progress toward it.
I wonder why all my dreams seem to be "going home" dreams.

MyRoom
In this dream, some furniture dealers wanted to use my room to show new furniture. I gave my permission. They had a crew ready to move all my things out and their furniture in. they even took out the wall between my apartment and the room next door, making my room twice as big.
It was lovely and roomy. There was an adjoining room to lounge in while they used my room as a showroom. I tried to negotiate with management to keep my room large like that.
The furniture dealers had only one prospect visit all afternoon, but they did not seem upset by that. At the end of the afternoon they began putting my things back the way they were when I woke up.
Possible interpretation: I have been concerned about the clutter of my apartment. Here was a chance to see it cleaned up by a professional crew. I loved it.
If you would like to comment on my dream feel free to leave a comment, or if you wish to add a dream of your own so others my have a crack at interpreting it, put it in the comments also. The Dream Editor will make an entry of your comment.

Another "Lost" Drea,
Another "lost" dream during an extra long daytime nap, and, as in entry below, lost my room in a hotel. I wandered for hours, looking for my room, walking (in waking life I am confined to wheel chair) with old fashioned wooden leg such as I used to wear years ago. I was carrying a couple of parcels and having trouble with them.
I went through an auditorium with music playing, and through other public rooms. I struggled up narrow staircases, through doors that opened the wrong way. I finally mangaged to find my room only to discover a blocked keyway with a note to call the floor manager.
When the floor manager opened my door, a family of strangers rushed past us and dashed away. I looked into the room and found my things all disturbed, but in a strange manner. They were all sourted out, and laid out in neat piles. Most of the things were electronic projects.
The manager called his staff together to sort out what had happened and what damages I was entitled to, though I couldn't find anything missing. In fact, things were better organized than I had left them. I looked out the window as the manager collected his staff. There I saw the family of tresspassers climbing into a car and speeding away...but they were out of reach, and no one seemed to care.
The communication expert on the staff studied the calls that had been made, and he helped me establish a connection to my home to explain that I would be delayed.
The connection was complicated by the fact that the line was in use, first by my "wife" and then by my grandson who was chatting about some inane game. When the expert made a connection, their conversations were replayed for me. I was cranky with my grandson while waiting for connection to be completed.
When the call went through, I said "Hello" but found I was awake in my own room. I may have said "Hello" out loud. It took a second or two to realize the dream was over and I was awake.

The Semi-Dream
What do you call those dreams that you have that keep you from sleeping. I refer to those thoughts that go round and round in your head at night when you'd rather sleep. Sometimes they are your problems, things you have to deal with in your daily life, your worries, but sometimes they are silly made up knotty problems your brain is trying to solve, over and over and over.
They are not dreams, but you cannot control them, and they are as unrational as dreams. I used to call them the "tapes" because they went over and over and I could not erase them.
For example, last night for hours I struggled with an imaginary problem. Franklin Roosevelt, loaded down with the cares of millions of soldier fighting and dying WWII gets a note in his persoal mail. A White House cook has been fired, without explanation, after years of planning the menus, preparing state dinners, endless hours being ready day and night to serve dignitaries who need to see the president. She appeals to the president for the reason she was summarily terminated.
He was not even aware she had been fired, since he is isolated from day to day operation of the staff. He takes time to inquire. He finds that she was fired for getting a ticket for speeding and drunken driving in Washington D.C. But he also finds that it was a foolish mistake. The drunk driver was a person with a somewhat, not exactly, similar name. who was not even the same age or sex
The agent who filed the report was reduced in rank and reassigned to a division far from Washington. Roosevelt apologises to the cook and orders her reinstated, but she declines. She has gone to work for more money and less stress.
My dream/semi-dream for what seemed hours was about the letters and the situation. It was not a dream but was a night, sleep depriving thought process. I wonder what you call these semi-nightmares.

I went to sleep in the afternoon and had a fitful rest. In two hours I spent a whole day in a dream world. I was lost in a huge hotel, looking for my room, 412 I believe it was. I wandered about in a hospital gown, back side exposed.
The hotel had the shops and restuarants mixed with the rooms, so it was rather hard to find, The room numbers were obscured by the shop and restaurant signs, and the rooms were off the main corridors.
The elevators were hard to get into, having odd haped doors. You had to bend down, and squeeze in, and the doors did not operate right. Sometimes you were locked into the odd shaped elevator cars.
I was late for a train connection. I had to get to my room to get my clothes and luggage. As the train time passed I became resigned to the fact that I would have to stay another day but I resented that.
It was another version of my "lost" dream. I spent several hour looking for my room. When I awake, I was surprized the find that only two hours had passed. I was groggy and confused for a long time.
What is up with me? Your comments please.
If you have a dream you would like to share, post it in comments. The Dream Depository editor will post it as an entry so others can comment on your dream.
