AOL Community Challenge - Landscapes in B&W

The current challenge: Take a Landscape photo in B & W or transform a photo into B&W. You can sepia tone the image, frame it, but keep in mind when framing, not to take away from the image.
Here's mine--taken from under the bridge on the main road in Winooski, Vermont, last January. I loved the clouds that day!

To view the other great landscape entries, go here and there.

Variety Show...Round Robin Photo Challenge

My second attempt to enter the Round Robin Challenge: This photo is of the tent homes erected every summer in Ocean Grove, NJ. Each tent home takes on the character of the person inhabiting it...and they are really quaint. For more information about this wonderful vacation spot (you'll have to visit for the day or stay at a B&B, because the tent homes are owned by families who pass them on to descendants) check out the following links:

Community Photo Challenge--POSTCARDS
Ok...I'm back to entering for the fun of it--and it IS fun!

This is a great Challenge (Check out all the great entries!)...it gave me the chance to use some techniques I haven't used in years (mainly clipping masks). I had to do this in my Illustrator class back in 2002 and the technique works in PhotoShop, too. Anyway, it's hard to create a great image when the banner for this is so very cool--setting the bar way up there^!
So...here's my postcard, it's imaginary, but the trip was real and we just got home today. :)

Shocked, Surprised and Totally Thrilled...

I was very pleasantly surprised when I logged in during my trip to Orlando, Florida, for a week of total immersion into all things Photoshop, followed by a week at the 'best place on earth'..Disney World. Because I was going to be away, I wasn't able to judge the AOL Community Photo Challenge, so when Marie asked Betty to help out, I took the opportunity to enter one as a 'challenger'. I'm really honored that my image was awarded first place. Thank you to the judges and thanks to all those of you who have commented and congratulated me, both on my journal and on the Challenge journal. I know how difficult the decision was for the judges...the other 2 winning images were really great, as were the other entries. As I've said before, there is a lot of photographic talent in our little community. Well, this is my moment in the sun...next challenge I'll be back to judging and entering just for the fun of it. :) Thanks again, everyone!

AOL Community Challenge - Aged

"This week's challenge is AGED. So find something that shows age or take an image & make it vintage or aged."
I've been so busy preparing for my trip to Photoshop World and Walt Disney World that I've not had time to post my entries. I can at least get this one done before going back to my trip prep. I'm also going to do something TOTALLY different this time and enter the judging--since Betty is taking my place on the panel this week! :) (...thanks, Betty!) Sooooo..... here goes!
My entry is an image that I totally love. I was on a photo shoot with friends at a fishing coop marina. There was so much to photograph and I got some great shots that day, but I think this is about the best...I cropped the image for this entry--the original shows more of the nets, but I wanted to focus on his hands. I also added a bit of grain to the hands only, to make them more aged than they already were.

AOL Community Photo Challenge - Wearing of the Green

Here's my non-competing entry for the current Photo Challenge. Check out the CHALLENGE and all the other great entries!
For my entry, I decided to look for something green that wasn't a plant...here's the green canoe I found. :)

Round Robin Challenge - A Nice Place to Sit
This is the first time I've entered a Round Robin Challenge, but I love this topic so I thought I'd give it a try. A friend and I went to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Friday and I have a wonderful shot of a garden seat from among the hundreds of photos I took that day. So...here goes...A Nice Place to Sit:

AOL Community Photo Challenge - March into Spring

"This week's challenge is MARCH INTO SPRING...Is spring popping up in your neighborhood? Daffodils and crocuses popping up through the snow? However spring is arriving (or did in the past, if you're still snowbound), share it with us!"
After reading some of the other entries, I went in search of signs of spring here in central NJ. (After all, it felt like spring today at 69 degrees!) I had a luncheon to attend and, on my way home, stopped at my favorite park for flowers...Deep Cut Gardens, part of the Monmouth County Parks System. Well, there's been a lot of growth but one of my favorite signs of spring (besides crocuses) are snowdrops and, sure enough, they were in profusive evidence...here's my photo:

As usual, I'm not eligible for a prize, but I do enjoy participating. Here's a bit of trivia about snowdrops:
In many gardens, this plant, along with the winter aconite (Eranthis), is the first flower of spring, blooming as early as January in the South and as late as April in the North. The flowers often push their way up through the snow. Should a late snowfall occur, snowdrops will remain in suspended animation until the snow melts and then carry on with their display.

Another Collage
I realized, after posting my granddaughter's collage, that my grandson would demand equal time, so I'm posting one of his, as well. I don't have one yet of the baby, so this will be all for this time around.

Creative Challenge - Collage

We're having another Creative Challenge - COLLAGE.
Here's my entry for this one. This is my older granddaughter and one of my first and favorite collages ever. I followed instructions from a Scott Kelby video to create this one...it looks great framed!
