Are Alexander's Best Days Behind Him?

Now that the Seahawks have locked Shaun Alexander up for the next eight years (which makes no sense), Seattle media-types are already wondering if his best days are over.

"Is that a cup, or are you just happy to see me... sssilly!"

In a column from today's Seattle Post-Intelligencer, David Locke more or less calls Alexander an ego-manic and writes the following:

"Somewhere in my gut, I believe we have seen the best of Alexander. The MVP season in which he refined many of the rough edges of his game will be the highlight... My best guess is that we will look back on the signing of Alexander in a few years and wonder why the player of the Super Bowl season never returned."

Oh snap! I personally believe that Alexander is a soft, sissy of a running back who didn't deserve to win MVP in the first place.  He can't catch, run routes, block, etc.  He ran for a bunch of yards and TDs behind the best offensive line in the league.  You could've plugged any starting RB in the NFL into that system last year, and he would've had numbers comparable to Alexander's.
