As I mentioned a couple days ago, Canseco was to get his first start on the mound in the Golden Baseball League All-Star Game last night.  You may be shocked to learn that it did not go well.  He made it through 1/3 of an inning, giving up four runs, three hits and a walk.

Although he might not be able to pitch, Jose can still hit batting practice pitches out of the park.  He won the homerun derby.  His prize? 250 bucks in cold, hard cash.  Surely he has some child support to spend the money on or something, right? Wrong.

"I'm going to take these guys out and get them drunk," motioning toward his teammates on the South team. "I'm going to buy about 400 gallons of beer."

I'm pretty sure that $250 doesn't get your "400 gallons of beer," even if it's PBE or Natty Light.  But hey, at least he didn't offer to buy everyone 18 tons of HGH, or something.

  Nasty Gansett references are always enjoyed within 50 miles of Rhode I-Land.
