This Scab Will Eat You!

Our friend Brad Parker, who is one of the rotating co-host's of Sports Bloggers Live (maybe you've heard of it? It's kind of a big deal), is what those in the inner circles of DC-area softball call an "ultimate gamer."  To some, softball is a leisurely activity meant simply to have some fun with friends and co-workers, but to Brad it's much more. It's life or freakin' death.

So last weekend when Brad was playing in some sort of softball playoff game (yeah, there are such things apparently) he was involved in a close play at third.  Given the fact that he was wearing shorts and was playing in a relatively meaningless game of desk-jockeys vs. desk-jockeys, Brad could've simply jogged into the inevitable tag out waiting for him at third base, or he could go all out, try to beat the throw, and slide.  Being the "gamer" he is, Brad chose the ladder.  This was the result:

Oh, and did I mention he was called "out" anyway? Of course, that didn't faze Brad, who picked himself up off the dirt, beat his chest and yelled, "I will take the glory from this battlefield!"  Okay, so I made that part up, but really, he was called "out," which is so awesome.

Brad is tracking the progress of the open wound (which has several names, including Smitty, The Red Monster and Suri, among others) on his blog Inside the Parker.  Check it out... unless you've eaten recently, in which case you should wait at least a half-hour.
