Tony K's Debut Not So Great
Every blog I read seems to be commenting on Kornheiser's debut on Monday Night Football last night (ex. MJD, Deadspin, my brother), so okay, I'll bite and share my own thoughts. Actually, better yet, my opinion on Tony can best be summed up by a Washington Post column from this morning. Strangly enough, his own paper seems to be more critical of his performance than anyone else, but I believe it to be spot on.
Tony was indeed Dennis Miller, but with a little less hair and ADD. He wasn't particularlly funny (although that's the main reason he is there, I think) and didn't add any insight or create any worthwhile discussion with Theismann. Some seem to have been entertained by Tony and Joe's disagreements, particularly the whole bed and breakfast thing, but I couldn't stand it. It was the reason that I couldn't stand Theismann and Paul Maguire together: I don't want to hear mindless arguing and bitching while I'm trying to watch a football game.
It is so painfully obvious that just Tirico and Theismann in the booth is the best answer. A great play-by-play guy with an analyst that is not completely annoying (just somewhat).
