Freak Injuries in the AL East
Although there was some extremely thrilling news involving the Orioles and Devil Rays over the past couple days, the real madness is going down with the Red Sox and Yankees… as usual.
For the Sox, David Ortiz has been sent back to Boston with an irregular heartbeat. Clearly, the best time for your MVP’s ticker to act up is when you’re seven back in the East and six back in the wild card. Honestly, I have no idea how a 280 pound man could have a heart condition. I can’t believe I bothered getting my hopes up about the Yanks missing the playoffs this season. I should’ve known Boston would find some way to lose the division.
As for the Yankees, their $40 million man Carl Pavano, who hasn’t pitched in over a year, decided it would be a good idea to not tell the team about two ribs he broke in a car accident about two weeks ago. Of course, the seatbelt was to blame for the broken ribs. Pavano said, “I had my seat belt on. I think that's the area where maybe I got injured, is where the seat belt was.” Yeah, those seatbelts are always causing injury. I don’t know why people would ever wear those things.
