Do NOT Battle This Man
I saw this clip of American tennis player Vince Spadea rapping while watching the U.S. Open last week. If I actually owned a fully-functional digital camera device, the clip would've been on my blog about ten minutes after I first saw it on USA. Thanks to the Lush Factor for tracking part of it down on YouTube.
Apparently, Spadea is quite the Renaissance Man. Not only is he a tennis player, he also released a book this year called "Break Point," in which he does his best Jose Canseco, minus the steroids bit, by calling out other people within the sport (most notably James Blake and Patrick McEnroe).
On top of that, as you can see, he raps. About six months ago his hotel room was broken into at a tournament in Miami. What did the thieves steal you ask? Only some of the hottest tracks this side of Ron Artest.
Spadea told reporters after the robbery, "(The security people are) writing all this down and asking me, 'Are you sure you lost it? Is it in your car?' Hey dude, I'm not crazy. I lost $5,000 worth of merchandise and $5 million worth of phone numbers. I lost 21 hot rap tracks that are coming out on my new album. I'm going to have to reinvent them."
