Can We Finally Admit Peyton's Better than Brady?

Hopefully, this Super Bowl win by Manning and the Colts will finally start to shut up any of the idiots who actually believe Tom Brady is the better quarterback.  The only argument in favor of Brady is rings, which is almost totally irrelevant in a 52-man TEAM sport (oh, and my favorite: "all he does is win."  Kill youself if you've ever said that). By that logic, I guess Trent Dilfer was a better QB than Dan Marino.  The defense of the ’01, ’03 and ’04 Patriots had much, much more to do with their success than anything Tom Brady ever did.  Don’t just take my word for it, check out the numbers:

Tom Brady’s career numbers (’01-’06): 21,564 passing yards, 147 TDs, 78 INTs, 62%.

Peyton Manning's numbers (’01-’06): 25,299 passing yards, 190 TDs, 81 INTs, 66% (plus 10 rushing TDs just for good measure).

Obviously, we can all agree that Peyton is the superior quarterback in the regular season.  These numbers don’t lie: Manning is better than Brady in any statistical category you want to look at.  As for their postseason performances, Manning has about 300 more passing yards and two less touchdowns while having played in one less playoff game than Brady.  I’d say that’s a push.  So why has Brady been able to win three rings to Manning’s one ring if they play about the same in the postseason?  It’s thanks to New England’s great defense, a luxury Manning hasn’t had.

In Brady’s six seasons as New England’s QB, the team’s defense has ranked an average of seventh-best in the entire NFL.  In their Super Bowl seasons of ’01, ’03 and ’04, the Patriots defense ranked sixth, first and second, respectively.

And how about that killer defense that Manning has had on his side?  Indy’s D has ranked an average of 18th in the NFL during Peyton’s career.  This season, he won the Super Bowl with a defense that was ranked 23rd out of 32 teams.  First, second and sixth best D’s in the NFL vs. Peyton’s 23rd ranked squad.  Yep, those three rings Brady has are all because of him.  Put Peyton on the same exact Pats teams they’ve had since ’01, and he would win just as many championships as Brady has, and probably more.

Tom-Tom is still better than Rex Grossman, however, so at least he has that going for him.

To all those that still are dazzled by regular season fireworks, please read the  article in the following link.

    http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Article.php?Page=261

It compares Brady's entire career versus Mannings'. It does not include the Steelers' debacle in '05, nor does it include Mannings' 3td 7int performance throughout this year's Superbowl run.

Let us also not forget that it took Peyton Manning 9 years in the league to get his first Superbowl win. It took Brady one. Let us ALSO not forget that the Colts lost their opening playoff game 4 times. Brady has NEVER lost an opening playoff game and has only lost in the divisional round once.Brady's been a starter for only 6 years, and has 3 rings, 12 playoff victories and only 2 losses.

The "greatness" of a quarterback is not defined by the bloated numbers compiled in a 16 game season, but defined by one's ability to carry a team victoriously throughout a 19 or 20 game season. Brady has proven he can do that over and over again, with an ever-changing supporting cast. He's done it 3 times in 6 years as a starter....Manning's done it once in 9 years.
