Hearing The best NIT game ever (ND vs. Michigan)

Timing Is Everything

The official and definitive sign that the WBC needs to be mid-season (in June or July): a second round NIT game is being shown on ESPN instead of the WBC championship game.

Akinori Otsuka

Don't get me wrong, I like the WBC.  I should say, I like what little I saw.  It was nice to see matchups such as Johan Santana against Poo-Holes in a game that mattered.  I didn't get to see much, however, because it was up against not only the Final Four Tourney, but also the juggernaut that is the NIT.  During March Madness just doesn't work.

The WBC needs to take place in mid-season when the MLB stars are in shape and able to do the basics, like say, hit a relay man or throw a breaking ball.  Not that that's why the U.S. lost (although I'm glad they did 'cause Yankees were on the team), but it would help level the playing field.  Just look at Cuba... they are in the middle of their season.
