Hearing Yanks/Royals Day Game

Forget Week 1, 'Pepper Might Miss Season

There has been plenty of speculation about whether 'Fins new QB Daunte Culpepper will be ready to play in the NFL season opener against the Steelers on September 7.  Now, according to ProFootballTalk.com, there are rumors that he may be missing a lot more than one or two games:

"We're hearing increased rumblings that Culpepper might not be able to play at all this year.

Culpepper is recovering from three torn ligaments -- MCL, ACL, and PCL -- in his right knee, which occurred when he took a low hit from the side on October 30.

Meanwhile, the Fins are looking for a veteran backup quarterback.  They've kicked the tires of Tommy Maddox and are in the running for Lions quarterback Joey Harrington."

An article in the Florida Sun-Sentinel has more on Culpepper's growing doubts about starting Week 1, and points out that the surgery Daunte had usually takes 12 months to fully recover from.  Culpepper had the surgery on November 15, which means if he indeed takes the full year to recover, he will miss at least the Dolphins' first nine games.

It is safe to say that I will not be picking him No. 2 overall in my fantasy draft this season, like I did last year.  Worst fantasy pick ever.

Cut Saban???  You must be a JETS fan!!!  J-E-T-S suck suck suck!!!  Saban has done nothing but start turning around this club and rebound from the Wannstedt era.  To take a 4-12 team and turn it around to yet another winning season (1 losing season in 20 some years) and revive hope and confidence into a team that all but gave up before the season started 2 years ago.  Trading for Culpepper will in the end, be a great decision and ultimately a HUGE upgrade from Gus the goat!  Even if 'Pepper doesn't play until Nov, there aren't many QB's in the league worse than Gus, who was the starting QB for a 9-7 team last season.  That means we don't need a great QB to win in this league.  So when 'Pepper does return, the 'phins will be that much better.  There is just too much talent and determination on this team coupled with a very prepared and intelligent coach in Saban not to be a playoff team next year, with or without Culpepper starting.

    GO PHINS!!!

THE BOTTOM LINE IS QB'S LIKE CULPEPPER AND VICK DON'T WIN, RUN AROUND ALL YOU WANT BUT IN THE END GUYS LIKE BRADY, FARVE, AND EVEN BRAD JOHNSON, WIN..... JUST WAIT SO WILL THE MANNINGS,  AND THE OTHER STAND IN THE POCKET BOYS. WHY BECAUSE THEY THINK AND LET THING DEVOLPE, WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING AROUND YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO THINK OR SEE WHAT IS GOING ON.

As a Viking fan, I was thrilled to see them get a second round draft pick for Daunte.  Some people forget that he was terrible after Moss left the Vikes & before he blew out his knee.  He gave the Vikes plenty before that so I'm hoping he recovers to the point of being of some value to the Fins but I have my doubts he'll ever return to his glory days.

Even if he doesn't play at all this year, it was still a great deal for Miami.  He has more than a 10 cent head and he has a million dollar heart!  He should take as long as it takes to get 100% healthy.
I live in Orlando and my two children and I went to UCF (and graduated) and we support UCF and we are pulling for Daunte.
UCF should appreciate what Daunte did for the school and when he is healthy he will give his all for Miami.
