LenDale Tears His Hammy
LenDale White has been receiving much criticism lately after refusing to run the 40 when he worked out for pro scouts, and for being, well, just plain fat.
Now LenDale has a real excuse for not running: He has a tear in his hamstring. White will be unable to run until mid-May, which is after the April 29th draft. I'm no nutritionist, but I think no running for a month mixed with continuing to eat (which is clearly one of his favorite past times) is a nasty equation for an ever fatter LenDale.
White is currently projected to go somewhere around 27th in the draft, but the RB who, according to NFL.com's Pat Kirwan, has never run a recorded 40, could drop even further now. I'm seeing a possible replacement for the Bus in Pittsburgh.

This injury could have a huge impact on his future. NFL teams are looking for healthy players. If the injury is severe and if he has not taken any money maybe returning to USC in not a bad option.

This has the potential of being a real problem for him. Hamstring injuries are tricky and can become chronic easily.
He is a grinder type of running back which is good because it doesn't require open field type of quickness normally, but at the same time, if he doesn't improve his fitness, leg strength and speed this is going to keep him below average in performance in the pros.
Going back to college is always a good idea for your mind, but this won't help his NFL chances anymore. Unfortunately the writing is on the wall after this injury and this graffiti is different from the last college game he played.
He has to get a great trainer and a thirst for high level PRO sports or else deal with 2nd round difficulties -
I think LenDale should back out on the draft and go back to USC for another year, if he hasn't taken any money that is. USC could use him, and I think he has real potential to go higher than 27th in the draft! He was a huge asset at USC, any team would be lucky to have him.

I don't think this is a huge injury like a blown knee or arm problems for a qb although it is his leg and he is a "runner". With enough rest most hamstring injuries heal nicely. Plus orthopaedics is very advanced now that those who liked White still like him. I would be surprised if he dropped out of the first round.
Mcgahee's knee almost exploded and he still went in the first round even though Buffalo knew he wouldn't probably play that year. I am trying to think of other prospects whose draft position wasn't damaged greatly by injuries before the draft but Willis is the only one coming to mind.
