Gay Gets Out of Calhoun's Grip

The player that we all knew was going to declare has finally done so.  UConn's Rudy Gay (file under: endless potential/under achiever) will announce at 3 PM today his intentions to enter the NBA draft this year.  He is currently projected to go fifth overall to Toronto.

This is Gay, Rudy as opposed to Gay Rudy.

With seniors Rashad Anderson, Hilton Armstrong and Denham Brown graduating, and Josh Boone and Rudy Gay declaring, it looks like UConn will be playing UNC/Kansas-type team of freshman and sophomores next season.

You really can't blame any player from UConn for wanting to leave and gain freedom from Jim Calhoun who is, as one writer once said, a “soulless [bleep]ing corpse. As bad as it gets."
