In Need of a Vacation

I'm hungover. Not just from last night (although that would be true too), but from vacation. I'm on a vacation hangover. I was in Aruba for 10 days. If you've never been there allow me to sum it up for you: Sun, breeze, drinks, water, girls, no computers/cell phones, food. Lots of food. Obviously, that doesn't really do the island justice, but I don't suspect I could relay how tremendous said island is in words. So go there.

Now I'm back in Northern Virginia, sitting at a computer in a dark room in the friendly confines of America Online's main campus (although there are no co-eds, keg parties, or people playing hacky sack on the qaud). The chemicals in my noggin are making me feel like I'm from Montreal (but really from Georgia). I guess it's clear that I want to go back to doing absolutely nothing. I want to go back to Aruba.

But alas, I'm here. And at least here I have American sports instead of soccer and Indy racing 24/7. I guess I didn't miss much while I was gone. Sam Perlozzo was fired, but that was a matter of time. Lavar Arrington crashed his bike, but I suppose that was equally as inevitable. What else? Derek Lee and Chris Young beat the sh*t out of the air (even the Dutch are interested in a bad fight, so I saw that one on repeat).

I reckons that's about it. So, I'm back. Exciting, I know. And no, I did not find Natalie Holloway, and if you thought about making that joke kill yourself now because you are not original nor funny. I'm in a good mood. And hungover.

French: Bad at War, Good at Television

Yesterday, the FanHaus presented a video of Serena Williams dancing and popping her ass about on some decidedly weird French television program. Well, apparently, she wasn't the only tennis star to stop by this wonderfully decorated, karaoke closet of a studio while in Paris. During today's French Open coverage, they showed clips of both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on the same show.

Check out both Serena and Nadal. I think Serena definitely wins in terms of entertainment value, but it's good to know that Nadal is in fact a human being with some sort of personality:

'West Wing' Reruns More Exciting Than Stanley Cup

America has spoken, and they have made it clear that they'd rather watch an episode of 'West Wing' for the second time than Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Saturday's game on NBC earned a 1.1 rating, which matched a re-run of said television show from July of 2005 for the lowest rated prime-time program in the history of NBC.

In case you're curious, a 1.1 rating equated to about 1.2 million households watching the game. That's about the equivalent of just the people that live in my county. Just when I think the NHL can't get any more pathetic, they up and totally redeem themselves. Seriously though, this is really getting sad. I almost feel bad for people who like the sport.

Tom Brady Doesn't Want to Discuss His Sins

After Pats minicamp today, Tom-Tom (aka Dreamboat) made his way to the press room where he was immediately asked about the most vital, football-related topic possible: Having babies outta wedlock. Shockingly, Brady didn't want to talk about that.

"I don't want to talk about that much, guys. Let's try to stick to why I'm up here."

I understand that. If some girl put the pills away to try and trap my beautiful, rich ass in a relationship, I'd be pissed too (did I just call Tom Brady beautiful? I was referring to myself, silly). Brady expounded on his situation, and did a fine job of trying to change the subject.

"Life changes for everybody. There's different things that everybody deals with in their life, you guys deal with, I deal with. I'm excited about this season, I'm excited about this year and, as with life and maturing, come other challenges as well. I'm just looking forward to seeing what this team is all about. I'm looking for a great year."

Something tells me he's more excited about the Patriots organization birthing, if you will, a star wide receiver in the form of Randy Moss, than he is about his male-model-to-be son.

Humpback Whales Help Clinton Portis See the Light

Somehow, any time Clinton Portis is in the news, it's just hilarious. Today's CP news doesn't let us down. He claims that he has done research since he made his (hilarious) dog fighting comments on May 21, and... well, just read how weird this is:

Portis said he has since done research on the subject and saw people crying over two humpback whales trapped in a river near San Francisco. He said he even wondered if he was being watched on a hidden camera when a woman sitting next to him at an airport spread a blanket and put down a bowl of water for her dog.

Okay, what is most odd about this: a) The fact that he actually did research of the topic, b) Two people crying over humpback whales helped him have a change of heart, c) He thinks people are watching him with hidden cameras, d) Two people were crying over humpback whales. I'll go with 'D', but it's a close call.

Gymnastics Just Got a Lot Hotter

While checking up on collegiate gymnastics today, I noticed a girl by the name of Kristina Baskett workin' the vault. Naturally, I fell in love and had to quickly do the most stalkerish thing I could think of: Google that ass. As always, Google did not fail me:

This Is Why Dancing With the Stars Isn't on Ice

I have no idea how old this video is (if you've seen it, watch again and like it), but it is a real gem courtesy of Drunken Stepfather, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite sites around. Word is that the girl whose face gets rearranged by the ice is some sort of Norwegian celebrity. Apparently this "Norway" is a country somewhere in Europe. Never heard of it.

Carlos Zambrano Is Not a Good Person

If you were born and raised in the DC-area, as I was, then you might even refer to Zambrano as a bama. Yea, I said it. He's a punk-bitch, basically. We all know by now what he did to his teammate Michael Barrett. In short, he beat his ass. But what no one seems to be talking about is that fact that Zambrano clearly spit at Barrett during their originally confrontation in the dugout.

The spit is nearly impossible to make out in the YouTube video because, well, when you upload clips from your TV to the internets, they sometimes get a little blurry. Look very (very) closely about the five-second mark as Zambrano is being pulled back. You can see the spit, which was clearly visible on television:
