Making the First Move

Is it still a taboo for a girl to ask a guy out?

I think this is absolutely fine. What's the worst thing that can happen? He's says "no" ... not a big deal. Get out of the Victorian era and be the independent woman you've always wanted to be.

Does anyone NOT agree with me? Seriously, I'd be shocked.

DO IT..it shows interest. Like myself in the past I was benine to the obvious flirts that others said I missed out on.
It takes 2, Myself, I don't bother until I see signs beyond typical flirting.

I think it depends on the situation. Some guys might be fine with it, especially if they're shy, but I know a lot of guys who want to be the one to ask. I know that was something that was really important to my last boyfriend, not just that he be the one to ask but that I allow him to lead in the direction and pace of the relationships (for example, he wanted me to wait to say "I love you" until he did). He saw that as his way of taking responsibility for guarding my heart and not promising more in the relationship until he was ready to follow through with it (and if he didn't say anything, it meant he wasn't ready yet).

So even though I think it's okay for a girl to ask a guy, if they're both comfortable with it, I would rather wait for the guy to ask me because it shows that he's really interesting enough to pursue me. If a guy isn't willing to step out and work for me a little, he probably doesn't care all the much for me and the relationship probably won't go anywhere. Or at least that's how I look at it....
