AIM Pages Module: Making a List

Ryan

Yesterday, I was asked if it was OK to link to non AOL sites from your AIM Pages Profile.

Absolutely, it is OK!

On my profile, I used the "Custom List" module to show you some of my favorite sites, and only one of them is from AOL ... the Community Forum. The other three sites I listed are just sites that I happen to enjoy and thought you might, too.

The rest of the links on my profile happen to be AOL pages, but that is due to a combination of coincidences and the fact that I work here. ;)

Same rules apply, though. As long as you don't violate the guidelines, link to what YOU want to link to -- the Web is your oyster.

The Basics on Making a List:

To make your own "Favorite Sites" list on your profile, add a "Custom List" module to your profile (from the "Under Construction" category).

Drag and drop the module on the page where you want your list to appear.

The Details:

Under the edit screen, the "Label" is where you would type the words that would be hyperlinked in the list.

The "URL" is where you would enter in the URL of the site you want to point to (i.e., www.aol.com).

The "Description" would be text below your hyperlink (if you choose to include a description).

To change the title of the module from "Custom Lists," simply click on the text in the edit screen and change it to what you want the module to be called. This is where I typed in "Favorite Sites."

My list has bullets on it, but you can also choose to have it be numbered, by clicking on the little box next to "Items."
