10,000 Leagues Under the Sea ... or Something Like That
Did you have a good Memorial Day weekend? Mine rocked.
Since it was a three-day weekend, I decided to join some members of my family for our annual Memorial Day cruise on the James River.
IMing and sailing: is this true bliss?
It wasn't until Sunday that I realized how for granted I take my wireless phone -- or, more importantly, the services on my phone.
It's a PalmOne Treo 700w (you know, one of those cell phone/PDA all-in-one thingamajigs) and allows me to receive e-mail, text messages and IMs. I can even surf the Web with it and post to message boards. The coolest thing is that I was IMing a friend who lives in Oregon while I was at the helm of a sailboat. Now that is multi-tasking!
My buddy and I were able to catch up on each other's families and debate who is going to win the World Cup this summer. I don't recommend IMing while driving, but I think sailing while IMing is a safe bet since it was pretty much impossible to hit anything in the deep blue.
This all leads me to the question: How do you IM? Share your stories, and while you're at it, check out this entry on mobile IMing.
