How-To: Chat and Message Boards Available to Free Subscription Plan Members

 Ryan

I've got some great news for you today. I have just been informed that members who are signed up under the free subscription plan can now use chat and message boards from within the AOL program.

To take advantage of the new feature, log on to AOL, then:

1. Go to AOL Keyword: Chat (or People Connection)
2. Click on a featured chat or message board link. A dialogue box will pop up.
3. Scroll down to eight to complete the process.

If you don't have a free AOL account, you can easily create one in about two minutes by following these steps:

1. Go to http://free.aol.com
2. Fill out the form and click the green submit button.

3. You will arrive at a confirmation screen once your screen name is accepted. Congratulations, you now have a free AOL account!

4. Download the AOL software if it isn't already installed on your computer. You can download and install a copy from here.
5. Once the software is loaded on your computer, use your new username and password to log on. Welcome to AOL!
6. A dialog box regarding your AOL account security question will pop up. Since you already created a security question, click next.

7. Another dialog box will pop up informing you that your account security question has already been confirmed. Just click OK.

8. Next, you'll see a window requesting age verification.

9. Click proceed.

10. Enter your credit card information on the next screen. Don't worry, your card will only be charged a temporary $1.00 fee to ensure the credit card is valid. The charge will be refunded.  When you are done click, submit.

11. Once your credit card information has gone through, you will automatically be brought to AOL People Connection. Click on a featured chat or message board and begin making new buddies.
