When I say online safety, what do you think? I bet you are thinking about anti-virus or firewall software – but there is a lot more to using the Internet safely. This week, I will cover tips on securing your online experience.
The term online safety describes the precautionary measures one takes when communicating across the Web. This can be in many forms, such as blogging, Instant Messaging, chat rooms, message boards and even video sharing sites.
Don’t get me wrong, I still keep my anti-virus software updated and still keep my eyes peeled for system updates. I’m only saying that online safety is not something you can just download – rather, it’s about understanding vulnerabilities and choosing the right way to respond.
