Update on Message Boards Pictures Feature
Hi,
folks. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable weekend. I just wanted
to fill you in on what is coming soon with the AOL Message Boards.
If you recall, I mentioned
that we were going to have the ability to embed pictures in the AOL
Message Boards. For those who tried it in Beta, it worked really well,
but several concerns were raised regarding the potential for abuse.
Considering the risks and benefits, we decided to require the use of AOL Pictures for allowing images on the boards.
Integrating images on the boards with
AOL Pictures will make it incredibly easy to embed pictures in your
messages and also allow us to effectively manage pictures that violate AOL Terms of Service via AOL Pictures. Many of the beta testers
suggested that the boards should integrate with the AOL Pictures
product, similar to AOL Web Mail; we agree and put a hold on pushing
this feature out to production.
The
board team is busy making the boards work smoothly with AOL Pictures.
They are also working on various back-end maintenance such as
monitoring and bouncing misbehaving servers, processing bug reports and
other international compatibility issues.
That's not all, these features are also coming soon:
- Spell Check
- Ability to remove messages yourself
- Ability to edit messages after being posted
- Sticky posts
When I have more details about these features, you'll be the first to know on the blog. I apologize for not covering the details on this earlier, but you can always let us know what features you like (or dislike) in the comments below.
