Seven Things you Might not have known about me. OK I got this Meme off kellology and because I am too lazy to think of something real... what the hell.
1. I not only do not have high speed internet connection, but because of the old outdated phone lines to my house I can only dial-up at around 24kbs. Which means nearly all pics and videos have to be seen at my office When and IF I have time.
2. I am maybe the cheapest person you will ever meet. I think my father even makes fun of me, and HE is the cheapest person I ever met. From time to time he will say something like, "Oh I was going to get the other one but it was 30 cents more so I decided to hell with it." The response seems so reasonable to me, it takes OTHERS to tell me it MIGHT have been a joke.
3. I am deathly afraid of dentists. I am not proud of it, and it is a true testament to courage each and every time I even show up for a cleaning. As a kid I was sent to a terrible dentist, he was a real monster and it was not til I was near 30 that I was even able to overcome the fear. I went for a cleaning last week, my first visit in over two years. It was painless and even enjoyable... I really like my dentist that I have now... but it takes lots of concentration and focus because old wounds sometimes never heal. SIDE NOTE: Many of the kids I grew up with were sent to this same monster dentist as kids. They do not still have their own teeth.
4. I am not good around nuts. Not crazy people, cashews, Brazil nuts, pecans.... like the old Lay's Potato chip commercial, I can never eat just one handful.
5. The funding for my job was threatened this past quarter and we were about to lose our jobs because the funding was ending. But several community members got together and petitioned the state legislators and told them our services were vital to the continued success of many community programs. The Legislators then called the head of the state agency that was screwing with our funding and demanded services not be lost. It was a real "It's a Wonderful Life" moment. I really do enjoy working with the people here in my hometown, and I am really grateful that they are all so cool and want to make positivechanges.
6. Its nearly impossible to lose my friendship. I still have the same friends I had back in Jr. High School. I still consider my best friend in elementary school a good friend. My best friends from high school are still my friends and even though I don't still see my close friends from college, I miss them and wish I could still hang out.
7. People think when I Email the most I am goofing of at work. But actually I am in my office looking up news and info that will benefit my community and sending out tons of Email to contacts all over the state. It just so happens that while I do this I also see cool articles on things that strike me as interesting so I tend to share. Thus the contention that all I do is sit in an office and goof around on the internet. The truth is that is when my community partners think I am doing my best job. Kinda cool huh?
