Sure I tune out when local news comes on TV at night.  I want to have a reasonable idea of the weather just in case there's a chance I might go sailing, but other than that, I detest local news.  It's propaganda at it's worst, it is sensationalism under corporate rule.  The news is a rehashing of stories handed down by PR Firms hired by corporations to control the stupid.

 

Oh, I don't think there is a safe alternative.  I agree NPR slants too far to the left, the internet can be twisted and controlled if you have enough time and money.  And for many of life decisions, I don't know of a trustworthy source.  I agree the economy is probably headed towards a crisis. I believe we will go into a major recession and property values will drop by as much as 40%.  I believe I am prepared for what is to come in the next couple of years IF I can maintain employment.

 

My big fear is a total devaluation of US Currency.  It's happened before, it is reasonable to assume it will happen again.  SO that after a lifetime of scrimping and saving and doing without so that I can have a fiscal future when retirement arrives may have been futile and needless suffering as dollar bills might be worth less than notebook paper.  It's happened before.

 

With over a Trillion Dollars in homes targeted for foreclosure due to Republican deregulated banking practices.  With MRSA super bugs growing in numbers and hiding in every nook and corner of your home, with Diabetes growing in number as fast as autism because of our modern toxic environment.  With Billions of dollars going to fight a war for no reason while we run up the credit card bill on our Chinese American Express card...  I think we could be headed into a major shit storm.  Maybe not, but just the same I try to be prepared, unless the dollar completely fails, which is a Chinese marker call away.

 

At at rate, I don't trust the local news.  I stopped watching nearly 20 years ago when I watched local stations drive the young son of a Democratic Governor to suicide for entertainment ratings.  It sickened me, and I have never respected local TV news since that day.

 

But then tonight I was flipping off Boston Legal when I herd the News Teaser.  "Blah blah blah blah Nudie Tales tonight at 10:00!"

 

?!!  Nudie Tales!!  Now THAT Seems like something I would want to know about!  NOW we are talking the news worth knowing!  I have to tell ya, Bubba, I sat there through that entire fucking broadcast and never saw a single hooter, even digitalized out.  I was shocked; I was outraged!  I rewound the TiVo all the way back to the pre broadcast news teaser and heard...

 

"New Details tonight at 10:00"

 

Fuckers!  I know they did that on purpose.  Dirty, cheating, untrustworthy Fuckers!
