Y2K Survivor

I have been talking politics with old friends in Email lately.  Actually I have spent hours carefully crafting political responses and then deleting them because I decided several years ago I did not want to be that guy who was consumed by hatred of all things Bush-Cheney.  Beside, any real debate takes a fair unbiased judge and two reasonable participants.  These are things you will never find in discussing politics.

 

It is not always the God Smearing Repugs either!  I mean I am just as guilty at unreasonable retorts.  Like when they claim I want to raise taxes and abort babies, I counter they lie their way into a war that killed over 1.3 million innocent Iraqi women and children.  When they say I am a tree hugging liberal, I point out while their guy usurped the powers of Congress, trashed the Constitution, stacked the Supreme Court, and took away the rights of habeas corpus while endorsing torture, he never even attempted to overturn Roe Vs Wade.  Mostly because if overturned, the Repugs wouldn't have a political advantage.  SO they call me bald and fat and I call them stupid and dangerous and we walk away with them gloating because they like people thinking they are dangerous.  Fuckers.

 

You know what's wrong with this country?  ME!  I am what is wrong.  Here I am working in a job to help people and build communities.  I am married to the same woman I met with I was 18 and I am an active involved father.  I pay my taxes, I attend a local church, and truth be told the only drugs I take control blood sugar, hypertension and a bit of arthritic pain.  I do not want to force my views or opinions on others but I can not stand idly by when I know something is wrong.

 

Maybe it's not me.  Maybe it is this belief that we live in the greatest country on Earth.  And we probably do, if you either have a lot of money or not much money.  Anybody in between is screwed.  You know what..?  I wish I was Swiss!  I mean it dude!  Think about it for a second...  they are never in wars, they have kick ass chocolate, cheese, army knives and banks, and they are populated with hot blonde chicks that started the porn industry.  Yeah if I could speak the lingo and make a living over there, I think I would rather be Swiss.  If I only had enough money... but then again, if I had enough money the USA would be the greatest country on Earth.  Freakin Catch 22s.
