Sometimes I'm glad I have a timeshare in Vegas...

hope the link works for you!

 Bonjour sam,

I am excited to tell you about our incredible partnership with Apple Corps Ltd. and The Mirage to develop a new resident show in Las Vegas which will celebrate the musical legacy and extraordinary experience of The Beatles. This historic project was born out of a friendship between the late George Harrison and Guy Laliberté.

This is the very first time that Apple Corps Ltd. has agreed to partner on a live theatre production and we are very proud to be a part of this wonderful experience. Gilles Ste-Croix, Vice President of Creation and New Project Development at Cirque du Soleil, has revealed that Dominic Champagne, writer-director of Varekai and ZUMANITY, will be deeply involved with the production and The Beatles producer Sir George Martin himself will be overseeing the musical elements of the show.

Our fifth resident show in Las Vegas will be a unique and magical voyage revisiting all the excitement of Beatlemania and is set to begin at the The Mirage in 2006. There is a little more for you to discover about this new partnership but no information on dates, tickets or performances yet. Not to worry though, I'll make sure to fill you in as soon as I know anything.

Au revoir!

Anne-Josée

PS: To receive further updates about this new production, please update your Cirque Club profile.

Sunday Brunch

Picture from Hometown

1) If you had a wedding, what flowers did you have at your wedding? Daisies

2) What is your favorite flower?
Daisies

3) Do you have flowers as part of your landscaping outside or your interior decor?
Daisies
(also impatiens, iris, mums, daylilies...) and lest I forget, "Cowgirl" the dieffenbachia babe

4) If you went to your high school prom(s), what kind of flower did you wear in your corsage or boutonniere?
a bluish carnation one year? (I dunno, ask Mae's father) and one of those wrist thingies with tiny blue roses the next.  Same dress!!  I hated that kind of crap. Well, and I went as a freshman in NJ, too, but I have no clue what I wore. Since  I almost forgot who the date was, how do you expect me to remember what flowers I got?

5) Do you like to receive flowers as a gift or do you think it is a waste of money?
I love flowers as a gift

Okay, okay, Vegas won...

by a slight margin.... but....

The Elemental Committee needs some help!  We still have openings for:

Star

Moon

Earth

...preferably from the many folks who want to convene in Sin City.  (That'd be me, too, you see....) As you may or may not have noticed, the current committee has an overwhelming desire to set up a confluence in Atlantic City.

We are going to go ahead and do that and we're saying the 13th--
but many of us are more than willing to help others set up a Las Vegas Convention, too-- on an alternate date in August

Just a little smooch to those who also voted heavily for New Orleans & St. Louis -- maybe those should be the convention cities for 2006?

Now.... on to the voting for Vegas dates in August, 2005  (I'm starting)

Please leave your preferences in this convenient comment box and I'll update!

August 6        August 13           August 20        August 27

2                  (reserved for AC)           1                             1

Dancer does some research...

Picture from Hometown

From an article dated August 6th this year--

"To try to get an answer to this question I’ve turned to Google. By typing in the domain name of a tool you can find the number of web pages that link to the domain name and the number of pages that contain the search term of that domain name. For example, AOL Journals are all hosted at journals.aol.com. By searching this domain name in Google we find that about 42,300 pages link to journals.aol.com and 159,000 pages contain the domain name journals.aol.com. This compares with 291,000 pages that link to blogspot.com (Blogger’s domain name) and 1.2 million pages that contain the domain name blogspot.com."

Put another way, Elise, author of this study, produces this pie chart:

wow, and my favorite web-hosted blog spot, Bravenet, isn't even listed!

(guess that's covered in the 2% "other")  Still, nothing about what states show the highest concentration of bloggers.  I am dumbfounded.

Sentimental Scalzi Assignment

Picture from Hometown

Headline:
Cyberdancer Does Not Dance
at her own wedding!  Ahh, you're thinking, broken leg?  against the religion?  Nope. Just no formal reception.  We bought some champagne and a cake at the grocery store that day, put on some records, threw a bouquet and a garter, but I don't remember dancing...

So instead of regaling you with the story of what that Bride & Groom dance was, I'll tell ya about the hippie songs that were part of our actual wedding ceremony.

...which was in a Catholic church and everything!  We did have a reading from the scripture, but we also did a duet reading (drama queen and king, don't forget) from The Prophet and e.e.cummings, I think.  I honestly don't remember. We were both nervous wrecks, and my  Oral Interp professor from the previous (Spring) semester gave us a B- on the delivery.  Another couple (male and female) also did a dramatic reading as they joined the Best Man (Joe's nephew, one year younger, who also made our rings, but not for that day--I keep promising to tell that story...) and Maid of Honor (my sister, who you will recall had married me previously --17 years previous, to be precise).  That was pretty cool.  At least, I thought so at the rehearsal.  So much blurs in the bliss of the moment.  Joe's nephew 2 years younger was the guitarist--our version of organist-- at our wedding.  He played from the choir loft, out of sight, instrumental versions of the rock songs of the day.  All I know is that he played Arlo Guthrie's lilting melody "Alice's Restaurant" as my processional:
"You can get anything you like...."

and the Beatles' "Two of Us"
"
...riding nowhere..."  as our recessional!

In the midst of the ceremony our friend Cheryl sang "A Time for Us" from the Zefferelli version of Romeo and Juliet, very popular that year. Romantic, huh?  She would go on to become an opera singer in the very home of opera, Rome.  Ken continues to play guitar in rock band after rock band.

And 30+ years later, the two terrible readers can be heard humming,

"We’re going home.
You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead..."

~~ex"Two of Us," The Beatles

To be fair, I think we did dance at our impromptu BYOB reception.  Probably to "Light my Fire"... but maybe not with each other, come to think of it.

5 more days to get your votes in for locale....

I really thought Central would do better....

As votes come in from the committee for best Weekend, we'll post photos here ...
Click here to check the tallies and/or vote for location!

I'm gonna list committee faces here, their personal votes for locale, & preferred date in August, starting, naturally, with Windswift1 & Sunflowerkat321 & moi, who started it all-- though Vivian, Gregg, and other veteran Beta Testers dreamed it long before we did....  I'm thinkin' there's no pic of Wind--- so Aiibrat's wonderful animation will suffice unless he gets wind of our need for them.... oh, rain, you are such a laugh-riot.

Born To Blog-International

I've just been rooting around in this group's new, amazing, shiny website-- and I must tip my hat to Founder/Owner/King Golden Child for a fabulously fun glimpse into the jillions of B2B-I members.  Click the animated graphic above to get there yourself, and meet some interesting faces and journals!

His1Desire has an incredible directory for this group as well.  Holy Cow, Pam!

You can get an invitation to join this group here:

And speaking of Faces, you've all bombarded pattboy92 with your jpegs, one hopes, for his Faces of AOL J-Land?  Oh, do!  Click pic for dat!  (Be sure you also check HIS cross-referenced directory and instructions on how and what to submit.  Links in the Faces sidebar.)

People do amazing things to make us familiar.

Thank you Gregg, Pam, Patrick, Blogfather... oh, and AOL, who could be doing a tad more?  Ya think?  We like the neighborhood, though.  We do.

And about that censorship thing-- here's a spin I value.
