What a way to open up AOL ...Mindy McCready "tried to off" herself, and Dr. Phil McGraw steps in?!?! *raised eyebrow* He tried this stunt with Britney Spears...thankfully her family put a grinding halt to him and the exploitation he was planning. McCready's a very sad case...but I can't help thinking her saving grace isn't in the form Dr. Phil, IMO.

[Drum roll] Ta-da...Amy Winehouse has been cast in wax...and the wax figure looks zillions times better than she does! Imagine that!!! LOL

It's raining here, with thunder and lightening! We had a storm on Monday. We got thunder/ lightening, but missed the rain. However, the surrounding area lost power, and trees were downed.

I've been working on Seanna's little rocking chair [for her birthday]. We'll have to ship it ahead of our trip [we leave Aug. 11th]. Don't think the airport would let us on the plane with a pkg. like that. LOL

I have a pic of Emma to share. It's a cell phone pic, and not the best quality, but it's still a good shot...in my opinion. She's playing with her puppy, Piper. Amazing how dogs know there are different circumstances with some people. Piper is not a trained service dog. However, her breeder told my daughter she believed this puppy was the right one to have with Emma...and so far, that has proved true. Emma isn't gentle...not that she intends to be rough...and Piper goes with the flow.

Emma was 4 this month...so hard to believe!

Seanna rode the ferry [with her parents] to NY City over the weekend. Here's one of the pics of her ferry ride.

Hope everyone has enjoyed a great weekend. Other than unpacking my bags yesterday, and doing a load of laundry, I've done nothing. In fact, today, I've not gotten out of my pj's. LOL

This morning I found a "suvioneer" from "back home"...a bite from a Fire Ant. I had been bitten last week on my feet, and Hydrocortisone cream helped a lot. The one I found this morning was on the back side of my wrist...I don't recall feeling that bite. Anyway, I took care of that angry looking little bump. Ugh, I can't stand those little meanies!

Some new Seanna pics to share...

Finally have the photos of the son's home "makeover". First, let me say...I hope these 2 have learned to never look at a house/mobile home/etc. that doesn't have the power on when they go to view it. Here are some before and after shots.

Ahem, cough, sputter...this small bedroom will be Caleb's...sans the hot pink paint, for sure!

My son had taken closet doors off by the time I arrived on "the scene". As 20+ yr. old mobile home closet doors aren't reliably safe, I suggested leaving them off. This area is open for toy chest and hang up clothes. The colors were based on the colors of his bedding set.

The stars & pillows are hanging by clear nylon threads.

The border is wooden stars painted in 3 other colors in the bedding set, with a rope running along the "seperation line". I painted the knots in the rope a green that is also in his bedding set. I see I forgot to pull a piece of painters tape off the wall! LOL

My dad & I bought the ceiling fan for the little fellowe. I've made ties that can be tied around the sheers, pulling them up from the floor and blousing them over...when he gets mobile.

This is just something I thought of to use the panels from a window topper. I only had one, there are two windows and the pattern of the cribbing set has been discontinued.

The bedroom that became Rhylan's. In this pic it's difficult to tell the difference in the walls/carpet. Walls were "feather painted" lavender over white. The carpet...I won't discuss...I will assure that the carpeting is being replaced in the kids' rooms. ; )

Mommy selected these colors to go with Rhylan's bedding set. She has a new ceiling fan, and her sheers can be tied up, as well.

Rhylan has a long closet area. [The dark stripe is where the metal track for the doors was.] I'll buy an extended tension rod and put up some type of curtain/drape that can hide the toy/clothes when necessary...and allow her to play freely otherwise.

The border was stenciled by me. This is the light switch of course.

A little shelf we found in a thrift store...painted & glazed with a couple of trinkets.

This will be the son & fiancee's bedroom & bath. Fortunately she never took an actual in room view of this bathroom...the upper walls werehot pink and the lower alls were black! So attractive...uh, NOT.

Their new ceiling fan. I found it at half-price {$25.00} at a discount store, told my dad about it, he bought it for $10.00!! It had been previously purchased [not installed] and returned. I think it's pretty!

The color of the bedroom & bath is called "Walnut Wash", and is trimmed out in white.

Looking into the bath. Cabinets were repainted, as well as, the knobs. Dad and I replaced the garden tub in this bath. That area wasn't picture ready. LOL

My idea of a window treatment in the master bath. ; )

The horrible kitchen...still some work to do in here, but getting there.

Painted wall/cabinets/hardware/hood have helped...decor helps even more.

Over the kitchen sink. Another discount store find...the $3.00 clock.

Breakfast area of kitchen. The drawer to the stove [a rescue from a burned out mobile home] rests against the wall. Door leads to the utility room.

More cabinets. The shelves still hold some supplies we were using, even styro cups to drink from.

The border I have to finish in the small bath. Dad & I have to install another tub in this bath, and he just found a tub as I left yesterday. I will go back for the installation, and finishing the border. The fiancee' plans to use the "palm tree" motif in here...hence, her asking for green & brown.

There will be more to post when all is cleaned up, tools and such are cleaned out, appliances installed.

~ Saturday...again ~

Hello! I'm back in Irmo after 6 wks. of hard labor for my son & his family. Oh, there's plenty left to do; however, son & d-i-l to be finally got on my last raw nerve. This past Monday I informed them I was coming home and they could have the job themselves.

I hate not staying around till the "finish" and seeing them move; yet, I'm beginning to believe it won't happen. I will go back to help my dad put in a tub in the small bath, and to finish the stencil border in that room.

My body aches, creaks, etc. [more than is "norm"]. My eyes are pools of fire...straining too much [even with glasses], and working too many hours. They're so bloodshot one would think I'd been tipping drinks at the local bar. LOL

I do have some pics to post of the place later. In the meantime...here is Rhylan. This was made this past week. I call it "Watchin' 'Em Work". This baby has been sooooo patient with being kept confined to the Pack-n-Play...if it were me, I would have been doing temper tantrums by the dozens! tee hee

Well folks, today I'm returning to the Upstate to hopefully complete my chores on the son's "new residence". My dad must have gotten behind both the son & fiancee' over the 4th, because the fiancee' text me Sat. to let me know she and my son were there working! Holy Moses, I'm soooo glad I was sitting down, because I would have definitely fallen otherwise. Seems they even put in some hours yesterday. : 0

Perhaps, I will have more enthusiasm to check in [here] this coming week. My DH is allowing me to take his Verizon modum with me so I won't have to depend on the dial-up service at my parents' home. This means my laptop and I can pile up in the big, comfy bed [I sleep in while there], and write/surf/whatever till I fall asleep LOL

~ Saturday...for real ~

Sheesh, I just realized, today is Saturday, not yesterday...which was Friday. I'm sooo out of the loop of not only what day it is, but the numerical date as well. Mea Culpa! LOL

Last week George Carlin passed away at age 71. He was one of the folks I thought would live forever. In the past few months I've grown fond of listening to XM Comedy on XM Satellite radio. Oh yeah, some of the comedians are very "x-rated"...but hey, if they get too far out in left field, I change the channel.

Needless to say, after George's passing the channel designated an entire day to his routines...from throughout his career. The tribute included many interviews with him [and not the David Letterman kind]. George Carlin was a high school drop-out; yet, his intelligence about life and people was revealed in his writing and his stand-up routines.

Like him or loathe him, the man had lots to say...and it made perfect sense [if you listened closely]! In one of those interviews he stated he was never an "angry" person. [Huh? George Carlin, not angry?] He explained it this way; he wasn't angry at people, he harbored no ill feelings against or about his fellow man. He did express anger [during his act] at the inane rules of the world; mindless actions of folks; etc.

To remember George Carlin, below is a copy of some of his "brillant ramblings" [IMO]. George, thanks for the laughter, the insights...and the memories!

New Rule: I'm not the cashier! By the time I look up from sliding my card, entering My PIN number, pressing 'Enter,' verifying the amount, deciding, no, I don't want Cash back, and pressing 'Enter' again, the kid who is supposed to be ringing me up is standing there eating my Mars Bar.

New Rule: Just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it doesn't make you Spiritual. It's right above the crack of your ass. And it translates to 'beef with broccoli.' The last time you did anything spiritual, you were praying to God

New Rule: If you're going to insist on making movies based on crappy old television shows, then you have to give everyone in the Cineplex a remote so we can see what's playing on the other screens. Let's remember the reason something was a television show in the first place is that the idea wasn't good enough to be a movie.

New Rule: And this one is long overdue: No more bathroom attendants. After I zip up, some guy is offering me a towel and a mint like I just had sex with George Michael. I can't even tell If he's supposed to be there, or just some freak with a fetish. I don't want to be on your webcam, Dude. I just want to wash my hands

New Rule: When I ask how old your toddler is, I don't need to hear  '27 months.' 'He's two' will do just fine. He's not a cheese. And I didn't really care in the first place.

New Rule: If you ever hope to be a credible adult and want a job that pays better than Minimum wage, then for God's sake don't pierce or tattoo every available piece of flesh. If so, then plan your future around  saying, 'Do you want fries with that?'

I am home. Came in on Thurs. and will leave again on Mon. Yes, the work is still in progress [for the son & his family]. G-R-O-A-N When it's all said and done perhaps, I'll write about it. I need to make it funny...for my own sake.

Rhylan was 1 on 7/3. Her little party was on 6/28. Here are some pics of the party.

Hi again! I'm still home. As to why I've not returned to the drudgery of the sow's ear...I won't bore anyone with the details. Suffice it to say, my son pushed the wrong button, and I had to take him to task (today).

I had many birthday cards to make and print out. There's a grandson with a birthday on June 30th; Mom on July 1st; Rhylan on July 3rd; Emma on July 9th; and my son-in-law on July 14th. I'm in great hopes I haven't forgotten anyone, or the occasion. LOL

Poor Seanna has been a very sick little girl...bronchitis. She's beginning to turn the corner, so that's good news. We will be going to NY for a wk. in Aug. Her birthday celebration will take place while we're there. : )

Hello! I'm on a weekend sabbatical. For two weeks I've been working on a place my son & his family want to move into. I will leave it at this: it's trying to take a sow's ear and make a silk purse...maybe imitation silk, but nevertheless. There is a "payoff" for all the work...I get to see Rhylan every day. ; )

I hope each and everyone is doing well, and life is treating you wonderfully. : )

I've always been a fan of the jounalistic photography style. If this isn't the correct word perhaps, Monica [Midnight Conversations] or someone else will tell me what is. Any way, I love when babies/children do the unexpected that makes a shot so priceless.

Yes, this one goes into my priceless file. ; )
