The Sailor's Wife

So tonight we had a last minute dinner with our neighbors Brian and Yoko and their 2 little girls.  It was not too stressful though since we had a lot of leftover steaks from last night.  I ended up making some Spanish rice with Sausage and then carmelized some onions and added a Corona and some Worstishire sauce and we had a make your own Buritto bar and I made some black beans to go along with it.  The kids, to my suprise, ate very well since they were allowed to make their own burritos.  It was last minute but I actually got to enjoy it since I was not stressing and cooking all day.   And we got to use up leftovers so that makes me happy that we did not waste food.  I have really been trying to cut back on our food waste.  Groceries are getting more expensive each day.  And every time I see food go in the trash I see MONEY going in the trash!  Waste not want not.  I have also started to eat any leftovers from the previous night for my lunch the next day.  There is not sense in making a sandwhich when  have a leftover meal sitting in the fridge.

I have talked to Savanah about 5 times already today, then they basically told me to stop calling and let them have FUN!  THE NERVE!  She is having a great time playing in the snow, and just being away from Mommy I think!  I am already counting the days until she gets home. 

My Mother wants me to send her some recipes of mine so I better get off of here and get to typing since she HAS to have them TONIGHT!   She is so pushy sometimes.  I guess that is where I get it from and I never knew I was pushy until recently, so I am taking thatcritisism and working on it.

Oh and I have to tell you that James made a 90% on his final test today!!!!!  YEAH HUBBY!  So he is graduating tomorow.  Then it's back to the boat on Monday.  He will be home for a few days then OUT to SEA again.  Oh don't you just love sea duty.....but this is the job he chose and I am proud of him and what they are doing so we will try and be greatful for what time we do have together.

James is watching Are you smarter than a 5th Grader.  He is so into it.  It just makes me feel stupid!  I am about to email these recipes and break in the bread maker!  I am very excited to try my first loaf in the machine! 

*****Before I leave I wanted to ask everyone to say a prayer for a fellow military wife who is stationed in Germany.  She is very very ill right now and in the hospital.  She started with the flu and then lung infection and then went into diabetic coma.  The day her husband left for a deployment.  She is a chaplains wife and has small children.  Her name is Heather.  At 2am my time they are holding a 1 hour prayer session for her at their local chapel.  If you happen to be up, please say a prayer, and if not then just please say a prayer anyways at anytime.  We all know there is power in Prayer!*****

  Love the graphics in this entry and sounds like a nice dinner with your friends.  Congratulations to James for passing the test.  You are going to miss him so much while he is out to sea and our prayers go with him!!
