Feeling Angry
Stupidity in the United States rears its ugly head again.
Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan promotes the suggested Democratic changes to the U.S. Energy Policy.

FOX News - 2008-05-10
Because of an international news scandal?
Right Bollywood - 2008-04-02

Why does the Democratic Party often pick the people who just get out of the news with a scandal to bear their standard to their constituency?
But seriously, let's consider the results of the suggested energy policy changes.

When world-wide demand outstrips world-wide availability of a resource, cutting regional consumption of the resource is not enough - all global consumers need to reduce consumption and/or all global production must increase.
Regional conservation is a good first step, but with global consumption growing faster than production, shortages with continue & prices will continue to rise.

The only viable regional solution requires increased regional fuel production - this is the only method that the U.S. Congress has control over. It is well known that the United States does not have enough farm land to replace oil with ethanol - so increased oil production is the only viable short to medium term alternative.

Moving fuel usage to another source (electricity) or another liquid source (such as Nuclear created Liquid Hydrogen) is a good long term method - the U.S. Congress also has control over this, if they would authorize the production of some new Nuclear Facilities, that can produce enough of these fuels, and upgrade the distribution infrastructures.

It is a sad day when the wife of an internationally infamous "John" is used by a political party to promote a failed policy.
People should be trying to rescue young women caught in prostitution who are trying to get out instead of rescuing politicians pimped by a political party who offers a nation dangerous goods.
The suggested policy change is destructive - far too little and far too late.

Stupidity & The American Energy Policy
Stupidity in the United States rears its ugly head again.
Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan promotes the suggested Democratic changes to the U.S. Energy Policy.

FOX News - 2008-05-10
— Ending billions of dollars in tax breaks for big oil companies. Why do you remember the name of Democratic Senator "Debbie Stabenow"?
— Forcing the oil companies to do their part by investing some of their profits in clean and affordable alternative energy.
— Protecting the American people from price gougers and greedy oil traders who manipulate the market.
— Temporarily stopping the diversion of oil to the national Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which is already 97 percent full.
— Standing up to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and other oil-producing nations that are working together to keep oil prices high
Because of an international news scandal?
Thomas Athans, the husband of U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow had paid $150 per hour to Alycia Martin, the hooker who had oral sex with him at a hotel.
...
Thomas Athans, 46, co-founder of the liberal TalkUSA Radio network, was stopped by Troy, Mich. police who were investigating prostitution at the hotel, according to a police report obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press under the state Freedom of Information Act.
Why does the Democratic Party often pick the people who just get out of the news with a scandal to bear their standard to their constituency?
But seriously, let's consider the results of the suggested energy policy changes.
- Ending Tax Breaks for Oil Companies
This will result in higher costs for the companies, which they will pass down to the consumer, and result in higher energy prices for the American consumer.
Smooth move, ExLax! - Invest profits in Alternative Energy
This is being done on a wide scale today:
1) Silicon is scarce, primarily due to the wide-spread use in solar panels, and American consumers can not get enough due to foreign consumers completely consuming the existing supply.
Solar cell grade silicon is currently a scarcer commodity than Oil.?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11642074
2) Food prices are rising, primarily due to grains formerly used in food production being re-directed to create additives for gasoline.
I guess they want the world to starve to death, since there is not enough grain in the United States to replace the oil consumed today.

3) Nuclear energy is also scarce, primarily due to Congress not authorizing the building of more nuclear energy facilities for decades.
Why do Democrats in Congress lobby tp stop the building of alternative Nuclear Energy facilities and their necessary long term waste storage facilities?

4) Wind energy has been very successful by the coasts of nations.
Why do Democrats in Congress press to stop the building of alternate Wind Energy facilities?

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2006/04/27/kennedy_faces_fight_on_cape_wind/- Stop refilling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve
This will not make a dent in the consumption of oil by the United States - that is like trying to stop the tide from hitting the beach with a sand castle. With oil predicted to hit $200 a barrel, I guess the ignorant would suggest to fill the strategic reserver later, when the price is higher? - Stand up to OPEC
I thought their party was for organized labor and unions?
Why is an international oil union bad now, because they are not funding their party in the next elections?
This is an international organization - OPEC is not under the jurisdiction of the United States law, so all they are doing is "poking the dog with a stick" and not expecting to get bitten.
Getting bitten will result in less cooperation, lower supply, and higher prices.
