Holiday Happenings

Hope everyone had a fabulous 4th.  As for me, I am glad it's over.  The stupid, stupid people that insist on shooting off fire works in the middle of a drought. Of course the state is pretty stupid for allowing the sales.

Our neighbor was in the middle of the street shooting off fire works right behind his cars (can we say gas tanks) and he has two little kids.  He's a moron anyway but with fireworks in his hand that makes him a top notch moron.

Oh well, it's over that's a good thing.

I did get my cooking done and everything came out just fine.  More on that later.

The big excitement was my A/C unit. Yesterday morning was the day I was scheduled to change the filters.  I went up in the attic and found the one unit for downstairs had a drain pan full of water.  The sensor thing didn't work and shut the whole unit off.  YAY and thanks to the incompetent sub contractors from Sears.  You guys remember the horrible experience I had with Sears during the install.

Anyway, I called Shumate Mechanical.  They had good references on Angie's List and I had used them once before.  So, I bit the bullet and had them come out, yesterday and I went ahead and got the annual maintenance contract.  I was going to do it several months ago but procrastinated.

I was surprised that on a holiday weekend it only took two hours and the guy was out here.  He spent almost 3 hours and I hope it's fixed.  He changed the sensor float thing and found the P Trap was put in upside down.  He fixed that an then custom cut a filter and then vacuumed up as much water as he could.

The P Trap he changed for free.  Here's the total bill.

The actual repair and diagnostic fee was $216.  Not too bad for a holiday weekend.  The $224 is for the annual maintenance contract for 2 units.  That's for both units and two maintenance checks a year and discounts.  I'm sure I could have found cheaper but I did want reliable.  So, overall I think it's OK.

I'll be in the attic later on to check things out.  Oh and I pulled up the PVC pipe from the outside drain that went into the dirt.  I had to see if the units were draining outside.  They are and now I have a bucket under the drips.  More water to save.  LOL

So, that's my holiday weekend so far.  Let's see how today goes.  Needless to say my back is a mess today.  Let's just hope no more surprises jump out at me.  I really need some down time.

Here's pics of the front and side yard. Things are looking good.

One more thing.  Mom bought a smart car.  How cool is that. She picks it up on Monday.  She just sent some pics of the car so I could see it.  She's up at Daryl's lake house for the holiday.

Isn't it cute?

Sears hasn't been known for it's reliability. Pickles was in hell with the fireworks going off. It wouldn't on been so bad if it had been one night but they did it for 2 nights in a row. Your mom's smart car looks cute. However I would feel confined in something that small. (Hugs)Indigo

Oh you are right...my flowers do look like yours.  I guess that it is hibiscus.  Do you cut their stems down in the fall or next spring or what?  I'll have to look it up.
They sure are pretty.  Wish you all could get out of this drought situation.  We managed to pull out of it...but could easily go right back where we were.
You take care. Glad you all survived the 4th.  Love those smart cars.

Sorry you had to endure such a high bill over the holiday weekend.   The car your Mom bought is so cute.  I bet she will enjoy saving on the gas bill.  The flowers are always so pretty around your house...loved them.   Enjoy your week...hugs and love,

I hope your back gets better, I have back problems for the past six months and I will have another epidural on Tuesday the only problem is they don`t help me .... good thing that you got some one to fix your unit over the weekend because it`s realy to hot to be with out it.I love all your flowers, your moms car is cute but not ideal for a tall person or a crash test.
