We Hear That...

- Mike Tyson returns to Washington and to the ring on June 11 in a bout at the MCI Center. (Remember that he used to have a house in Potomac, Md., but now he's like broke? I won't even go into all his major troubles....)

- This year's Virginia Gold Cup is the same day as the Kentucky Derby, so you can have a super horsy day by going to the cup and listening to the derby live there.

- The cherry blossoms will still be looking pretty 'til April 18, so less crowded viewing this weekend might be more enjoyable than the packed city was last weekend.

- NY's venerable Old Homestead Steak House plans to open a Bethesda branch next month. That's also when Georgia-based Gladys Knight & Ron Winan's Chicken & Waffles will be opening a location in Largo.

Whoo-hoo! Chicken 'n waffles... the best I've had were at Southland on the Virginia-North Carolina border. I also remember having them somewhere in Harlem a while ago. Yum.
