My Very First Nats GameTM
The same field where a security guard pulled me out of the mosh pit during a long-ago (fine, sadly not TOO long ago) HFStival last night had Washington Nationals catcher Brian Schneider hitting a homer that couldn't save the game for the Nats against the Florida Marlins. So they lost, and so it was semi-surreal to see RFK Stadium made over for baseball. That still didn't make it any less cool to finally see baseball in DC.
Spotted: Lots of scripty W hats (W for Washington, that is) and general ambivalence to the team itself. The guy wearing the Marlins jersey didn't have any reason to fear for his safety -- these DC folks were out for a good time, but not necessarily for their beloved home team. At any rate, 25,990 souls were at last night's game, even if only half of them cared about the team more than the beer and hot dogs.
Biggest complaint: The tiny scoreboard made it hard to read the players' names.
Best value: For $20, we got seats right above home plate.
Worst value: Nats caps for $30.
Saddest moment for Nats, uh, fans: The Marlins scoring five runs in the third.
Newest Insight: Low-carb beer really isn't that awful.
