Revisiting Packer
After posting Billy Packer vs. Phil Martelli, I received a few emails worth sharing:
From YOUCANTGUARDME (great screename): "I am a Kentucky fan, born and raised minutes from campus. Packer is well known for being biased when calling UK games. The three times he came to Rupp Arena this year to call a game, all 23,500 big blue faithful chanted "GO HOME PACKER" through the entire warm up session."
From Rwbeyb: "Billy Packer is a jackass, but he's correct in saying St. Joe's won't get very far, even maybe out of the first game. Packer played for Wake Forest, my alma mater, and was pretty good, but tried to coach the team after Bones KcKinney retired, but he failed. He also fails as a reliable commentator."
Do you wanna hear any more outta Packer?

Good morning March Madness fans, being a Ky fan, I am personnaly quite tired of Billy's bias when it comes to Ky. It must absolutely "kill" him for Ky to excel. Especially since we have no McDonald's All-Americans. Geesh,,these kids think there are the next LeBron and have no desire to go to the college game anyway.

My issue with Packer is he throws in so much irrelavent crap. He started talking about his Wake Forest in like 1958 beating St. Joes. What does that have to do with anything?? He also talked about a non-power team going to the Final Four. That is becoming less and less relevent every year.

Everybody dreams during the tourney why not Packer?

People love to hate a man that disagrees with them and Packer usually disagrees with everyone at some point in a season. But few commentators in any sport are as well educated about the games that they call as Billy Packer. I love to hate him too, but have to admit that he's right on most of the points he makes a whole lot more often than he's wrong!
