Weekend Wrapup

Brain waves from the first two rounds...

~ My new favorite player is UAB's Squeaky Johnson. He captained brilliant upsets over Washington and Kentucky, has great hair and his given name is Carldell.

~ CBS should never -- neva eva eva eva -- cut to commercial w/ games in progress. Seriously, couldn't they sell non-stop sponsorships w/in continuous coverage for like $100 billion? In the meantime, I hope all the ad dollars outweigh the negative PR of every fan in the country cursing CBS every time they break away to commercial when they could be showing a game.

~ My brother actually picked Alabama and Xavier in the Sweet 16. How did the clairvoyance gene not make it to me? Bonus is that if he wins his pool he'll use to join my friends and I at Coachella.

~ If Syracuse and UConn can each win one more game, it'll set up the game of the tournament: Orangemen vs. Huskies for the Final 4; a Big East classic featuring McNamara, Warrick, Okafor and Gordon as coached by Boeheim and Calhoun.

~ Can we please be treated to one buzzer beater? Just one Drew Nicholas-Bryce Drew-Tate George-Christian Laettner special? This would seriously make my month.

What do you think of the tournament so far?

Very uninspiring. There is NO excitment, NO really close games, NO overtimes, NO coach "fights", NO player "fights", ONLY 1-2 "Personal Bests" before our eyes.
For me, the ONLY REAL SURPRISE is that St Joes can play with Wake Forest.
Does anybody know what happened to the MADNESS in this March's version?

I watched the Illinois- duke game yesterday. As soon as the game started Illinois had 7 fouls, fathom fouls at that. The real discusting events of the whole game was the meat head announcers. They were pathetic, see duke run, see duke jump, see duke, watch duke, Duke, Duke ,Duke Duh ! where is that other team from? Indiana, Missouri, Chicago? each of them announced as they had a ham hanging from their neck.

All the teams that made it through the quarter finals are worth watching and the hot shot players are all really good, however, ...... they are all fortunate that it's not 1969 and their not playing against Pistol Pete ! Otherwise they's all be second best !

I think CBS's coverage is very poor. There is too much switching from game to game at key points in any matchup, far too many commercial breaks, and being a Syracuse fan, I cannot quite understand why none of last year's champion's tournament games have been shown on TV in the Indianapolis area. In their game against Maryland, another former champion, I only got to see about two minutes at the end of the game.

I live in Reno, NV and I was so thrilled to see our team win. GO Wolf Pack. I was even more shocked to see Stanford lose. I lived in San Jose, CA for over 40 years.
