Hearing Fenway faithful cheering another BoSox victory over the Evil Empire

Weekend Roundup

~ The A-Rod-o-Meter is at .160, and the natives are getting restless. The Yanks message board had this post from GetridOFAROD: "I like the yankees, but getting arod was a joke. trade that high priced bum back to texas. he is a disgrace to all former yankees. he can't throw either. Boston is thanking GOD that they didn't get him."

~ The Premature Jockularity blog (highly recommended) makes an eerie comparison between the Soprano's Johnny Sack and Joe Torre.

~ OK, so Ty Law is driving his Rolls through South Beach, gets pulled over, speeds off, stops, tries to run away on foot and is caught by two officers shortly thereafter. He then tells them "not to touch him because he is a professional athlete." Read the story. What I find amazing is an NFL corner can't outrun two cops. Good luck covering Randy Moss.

~ Jim Armstrong makes his case for 'Melo Anthony to win Rookie of the Year over LeBron. I agree w/ every word, and find this to be the best argument: "Anthony averaged 21 points a game, becoming the first rookie to lead a playoff team in scoring since the Spurs' David Robinson in 1989-90."

~ Rockies outfielder Larry Walker discovered a dead body on his property near Evergreen, CO (details). The autopsy identified the body as that of Walker's career as a slugger. Ouch.

~ Barry Bonds is coming off the best 3-year offensive run of any player ever, and he's headed towards his best season yet. After 12 games he's hitting .500 w/ 7 HR and a 1.903 OPS. Out-of-this-world numbers. Too bad no one is for him.

This just in from AOL's Fantasy Baseball Insider (Sam Caplan)...
"Rumors have begun to circulate that the Cubs are playing up RHP Mark Prior's Achilles' problem as a way to cover up the fact that he has a potential season-ending arm injury."
