I Love This Game

Amazing night in front of the telly -- Lakers-T'wolves (love Shaq's fu manchu), Flames-Bolts (who are these guys?), O's-Yanks (let's gO's!), the WB's 'Superstar USA' (must-see tv) and 'Real World: San Diego' (the Frankie episode). My head's spinning, so lets talk hoops before I get too discombobulated. Here we go...

Tayshaun's thought bubble: "Bring it strong, Reggie."

~ What was Reggie Miller thinking -- On a breakaway down by 2 w/ 14 ticks left... and he tried to lay it up? Like Bill Walton says, "Throw it down, big man!" He actually slowed down to lay it gently off glass and got it pinned to the board by a hustling Tayshaun Prince. This one play could end up costing Indiana the series and tarnish Reggie's otherwise sterling playoff rep.

~ Great quote from AOL blogger RocketArm25 -- who lists his top-8 favorite Lakers as Magic, Shaq, Worthy, Kareem, Devean George, Rambis, Byron Scott and Riley. He says, "Missing out on the top 8? Kobe at #1,375. Finishing just ahead of him was Chevy Chase in Fletch."

~ Anyone noticed the Shawn Kemp-like dropoff from Wally Szczerbiak? 2 years ago he was an all-star. Now he's averaging 10 points. He's either a) hurt or b) spending too much time on his hair ("controlled chaos").

~ It's worth mentioning that I have an active eBay bid on a 1986 Maryland Terrapins Len Bias jersey.

~ Can someone explain how Fred Hoiberg (aka "The Mayor") went from being a fringe player on horrible Bulls teams to a solid contributer on a title contender?

MTV's next show: 'Pimp My Shoes'

~ Sneaker maker Dada Supreme "has teamed up w/ Latrell Sprewell to offer 'Sprees' for the feet that include a spinning wheel in their structure." I think the only way you're allowed to wear these is if you're a) 5 years old or b) in South Beach during Memorial Day weekend.

~ Watch the Chappelle Show skit where Prince & the Revolution challenge Charlie Murphy to a game of basketball. This is the funniest show since In Living Color.

~ Lakers will take Minnesota in 6. The only joy I'm getting out of this series is seeing Mark Madsen try to guard Shaq.

~ The Detroit-Indiana series will go the distance and each game is gonna be brutal. I like the Pistons to win b/c their player seem to be fitting into more well-defined roles. Plus, I wanna see a retro-Finals Showtime-Bad Boys matchup.

What're your playoff predictions?

PS ~ They just showed Liotta, Spielberg, Snoop and Jack at Staples. I love this game.

Is it me, or does Wally Szczerbiak remind anyone else of Kelly Tripuka?

If people think reggie Miller is softer than Charmin Yao Ming must be softer than a baby's butt. I mean like the comercial on ESPN, the girl says "You do you take Shaq or Yao" I would always take Shaq. And then I watch Sportscenter the next morning after a game. Shaq scores like 15 more points than Yao 10 more rebounds. And Yao won't even drive when Shaq's guarding him. Please Yao's the softest player in the NBA
