Hearing the Stones

Day After the Championships

The Eagles finally did it, the Pats kept on doing it and here's the Monday morning fallout...

From AOL Sports' Pigskin Bloggers (listen to them on the hour-long Pigskin Bloggers Live radio show):

· "Freddie Mitchell's hair? A mix between cornrows and a Mohawk. Simply stunning. We can only hope he finds his bowtie after the game."

 Legend of the Corn-Frohawk

· "I hope [Vick] was watching the QB in green today. McNabb ran effectively and never out of desparation. He was elusive in the pocket, buying more time to complete a pass. He killed the Falcons with his ability to complete long passes into that killer wind. Vick, on the other hand, seemed to think run as soon as he saw his primary receiver was not open."

· "We can argue all week about whether or not Cowher and Whisenhunt should've opened up the Pittsburgh offense sooner. Seeing the way New England was determined not to let Bettis pound the middle all day begs the question of whether the Steelers should've let Roethlisberger throw downfield, three interceptions and all. But where Cowher really failed was down at the Pats 2 early in the fourth quarter, with fourth down and the Pats leading 31-17. Pittsburgh had all the momentum, and as well as Tom Brady was playing, never should've passed up the opportunity to make it a one-possession game."

· "Ben showed more stones than Manning did last week."

· "Whomever doesn’t think the Pats are a dynasty is crazy. This team has won 8 straight postseason games and are 33-4 over the past two seasons."

And from SI's Monday Morning QB:

· "I think the best player I saw in the NFC title game was Derrick Burgess. Raise your hands: How many of you had heard of him before this weekend? Quick feet, extremely disciplined, doggedly determined. The way he rushes the passer reminds me of Leonard Marshall a couple of decades ago in New York. Burgess doesn't get there as much as Marshall did, but his athleticism is similar."

· "Bill Belichick and Vince Lombardi have the same postseason record: 9-1."

1/24 update: Big thanks to Nike for airing the weirdest commercial I've seen in awhile. The 'Game Face' ad was bizzaro, and I'm wondering where they'll go w/ the campaign.

Yeah....that "Game Face" commercial was quite bizarre.  I had no idea what I just saw [was I supposed to snap my fingers instead of clap?].  It looked like some film school project by Tim Burton.  I hope to God this doesn't lead to a more bizarre S&M commercial during the Super Bowl.

I'd rather just see another Jackson's breast.
