Hodgepodge of Hoops

To get your fill on tonight's championship, visit Sportz' NCAA Tourney HQ. He's got the in-depth, hard-core fan breakdown and a 77-71 UNC prediction. I disagree and have Illinois cutting down the nets. Of course, I also predicted a Final Four of OK St., Wake Forest, UConn and Syracuse. Elsewhere...

Dee Brown, Luther Head, Sean May A Championship is the Illini's destiny.

-- Pitino says Francisco Garcia may return next year. "Here's our plan with Francisco- I said here's the situation- in other years you would be drafted from about 8 to 15, but because every agent in the world is telling every high school kid and every college kid to go out because of the 20 year age rule, there's more competition. Foreign as well, this could be one of the strongest drafts in maybe 10 years."

-- Sebastian Telfair and Shaun Livingston recorded 10-assist games last night. They're not the only high school rookies excelling down the stretch in '05: Dwight Howard averaged 13 and 12 in March and J.R. Smith scored 20+ in five of his last eight. In other news, Kwame Brown's four year scoring average for my Wizards is 7.7. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

-- Sportz Assassin posts pics, vitals and commentary on UNC's freshman class of '05-'06. Sounds like they have solid replacements for Felton, McCants and May, plus they stole a guy from Maryland's backyard and my hometown (Arlington, VA). Dammit.
