Monday Morning Blog: Ciao, Kiper!

My thoughts on the Draft:

· Pac-Man Jones jewelry was incredible. He's may new favorite non-'Skin.
· Merrill Hoge has weird hair.
· Torry Holt is good on air.
· Chris Mortenson looks like the dad from Teen Wolf.
· Reader Seslz writes, "What do the scouts mean when saying a blocker has a good bubble?" I've no idea, but this goes up there with "platforms" as my new favorite draft terms.
· Mike Tice called Troy Williamson "a faster Nate Burleson." He better hope Mike Williams isn't "a taller Jerry Rice."
· Speaking of Williams, I've prayed since January that he'd be on the board for the 'Skins at 9. And he was, and they took Carlos Rogers. Punch me in the face.
· Speaking of the 'Skins, Patrick Ramsey is still our QB.
· And while we're on 'Skins QBs, I wonder if they still would've taken Jason Campbell if Aaron Rodgers was available at 25.

 Kiper's #1 Player Goes #10

Other thoughts on the Draft...

· Peter King's Monday Morning QB focuses on the Chargers 1st-round selection of steroid user Luis Castillo. Note: King joins us on Sports Bloggers Live radio tonight at 7 PM ET.
· Sportz Assassin breaks down the 'Skins and more. Great line regarding Campbell: "Black quarterbacks wearing the #17 are kind of loved around DC."
· AOL Sports Desk Blog names NFL.com's Pat Kirwan as having the most foresight among NFL prognosticators.
· Quick Slants comments on ESPN's "ridiculously overrated, boring, long, and anti-climatic" coverage and includes his new favorite Kiper term -- "pocket moxiness."
· Ira Miller posts Five Things He Learned. No. 1 is that Washington is a mess. Kick me in the nuts.

As a long time Dallas Cowboys fan I must say that I am really disappointed in the demise of the Redskins. In terms of the rivalry, there is nothing more exciting than when you have both teams at the same playing level. It has to be disappointing for the NFL as well because the Cowboys/Redskins game was once a huge ratings draw. The responsibility for the downfall of the franchise can squarely be placed upon the shoulders of Daniel Snyder and his poor management of the team. From someone on the outside looking in, he has become to obsessed with signing the player with the biggest hype and not the one who can perform. The Mark Brunell contract is haunting the team now and will haunt them later. $34 million is alot of money to pay for a backup QB.
The many mistakes of Daniel Snyder:
    1. Steve Spurrier
    2.Stephen Davis
    3. Norv Turner lasting as long as he did
    4. Wanting to be like Jerry Jones
    5. Jeramiah Trotter
    6. Champ Baily
    7. Deion Sanders
    8. Brad Johnson
    9.Michael Westbrook
    10. Changing the name of Jack Kent Cook Stadium to FedEX Feild.
    11. Not being concerned with either the defensive or offensive lines
    12. Patrick Ramsey in 1st round
    13. Rod Gardener
    14. Making Fans pay to attend the training camp
    15. Joe Gibbs- You can never go home again

Well I piled on enough but you get the point. If the franchise is to reach the heights, it once knew, then Daniel Snyder is going to have to be hands off and they are going to have to get rid of Vinny Ceirato.

On a positive note at least the Orioles are in 1st place.
