Hearing R. Kelly

It's the Freakin' Weeken'

In the past 24 hours, I've been to RFK to see the first-place Nats win their seventh straight (and sweep Oakland, effectively winning my bet w/ Diecast Dude) and Congressional to see Jasper Parnevik's killer Swede fashion (pics are coming), so life is good but hasn't left time for blogging. Let me just throw a few things out there before I bounce for the weekend:

· I loathe the Yanks, but I'm gonna be on Lehigh Valley Yankee Fan Club Radio Sunday night at 7 PM ET. The host, Ty Hildenbrandt, is a true talent who's working to make It happen in DIY fashion. Tell every despicable Yankee fan you know.

· I'm also gonna be on Lance Williams' podcast show at MySportsRadio next week. Check out that site if you have an MP3 player. It's fun sports talk with true fans that you can hear in the car, on a jog, etc., etc.

· Dan Shanoff, who writes ESPN's Daily Quickie, sent me a very kind and congratulatory email the other day after Sports Bloggers Live was mentioned in the 6/8 edition of USA Today. It was just a very nice gesture and I thought I'd mention it. Thanks, Dan.

· Speaking of SBL, we're gonna have Mike from Plunk Biggio on Monday night's show (live from 7-8 PM ET). His blog has such an odd premise (although not as odd as the Blog of Fetus Spears), but he pulls it off.

· Finally, great sports blogs have been popping up like Christian Guzman lately. Check out Mr. I's Blog Log to discover New Editions, I mean, new additions.

And have a great weekend.

If you call quitting in the ring after 18 minutes of fighting, while raking in $5 Mil respectable and honorable...

Hey, I feel sorry for the guy, but lets not get rediculous....

I didn't see the fight, but you media folks really need to lay off of Mike with the insults.  He is a deep and profound individual.  He has made mistakes in his life as we all have, but appreciate the person that he is.  Mike Tyson is a beautiful person; I don't know him personally, but what I have seen from him in the last few years has been respectable and honorable.  You can tell that he is on a higher wavelength than the average person.
Like many others, it seems like Mike Tyson will not get the respect that he deserves.  That one interview where he was on the rooftop with is pigeons was a deep and spiritual moving interview.  I really got to see (what I think) is the REAL Mike Tyson.  There was nothing funny about it, nothing that people could pick at, but when the camera came back to the newsroom the news people were laughing, just because it was Mike Tyson.  It makes me sick.  If people could just step back and listen to what others say they might actually gain something from the experience.
Don't take the former reputation, and your own personal opinions, but actually listen to what individuals say.  Too many people listen to 10 percent with their opinion already formed before the words even come out of the person's mouth.
It's sad, but I'd like to see how some of the hecklers would hold up with that kind of mark on their name.
    -Peace & Blessings
