John Kruk Has a Fat Mouth

Yesterday Vernon Wells loafed after a Miguel Tejada basehit to center and Miggi stretched it into a double. Wells was so lazy on the play that Baseball Tonight's John Kruk went on a minute-long diatribe about how Blue Jays manager John Gibbons should've yanked Wells right away, chewed him out, benched him, etc., etc.

Kruk made a good point, and he made it emphatically. It was fun to watch him get red in the face, and it was unintentionally hilarious considering that Kruk was a fat tub of [bleep] when he played. The guy only had three 500 at-bat seasons and retired at 34. Give me an in-shape player like Wells (or Manny Ramirez) who gets caught loafing occasionaly anyday over a tubby dude who gives it all on the field but very little off of it. Seriously, how many of the best players are fat?

Moving on, here's a picture of a Japanese pitcher who stays cool by keeping frozen cabbage under his hat (until the league banned it):

Thanks to Heff for the photo.

More stuff to keep you busy:

· Sportz Assassin breaks down NBA Final Game 7s (home team is 15-3 all time), and he's picking the Pistons. So am I. So is George Coztanza.

· Scottish Racer interviewed Robby Gordon on his Nextel Cup Blog!

· Saved by the Blog ridicules Bernie Eccelston and Craig Biggio.

· Putts From the Rough says, "Annika’s current run will be more impressive that Tiger’s run from 2000 through 2001. Not only that, I think that Annika will be able to sustain her run longer than Tiger did."

· RealGM's Mock Draft Version 5.0 still has Bogut #1, some guy named Martell Webster #3 and Chris Paul (after Deron Williams) #5. The same site also lists Gerald Green as the top prospect in the draft but has him going #7 in the mock.

· Amazin' Video of the Day: Spider-Man Lives! (tip o' the mouse to my brother for this one).
