Hearing Buster Olney on Sports Bloggers Live

Apparently, Blogs Are for 'Dweebs'

The past 30 days have seen me get married, go on a honeymoon, buy a puppy and close on our condo, so please forgive me for the lack of sweet blog action on this site. I'm sure I'll make up for it down the road when I'm not allowed to spend entire weekends watching professional and amateur football. At least I can still post a bunch of links:

· AOL's Richard Justice says, "Blogs are computer bulletin boards in which dweebs have the freedom to say anything about anyone. They talk tough, too, because it's safe and anonymous. If you think that Newsweek story about the Koran was thinly sourced, you should see some of the stuff that passes for truth in the blogosphere."

We'll have Mr. Justice on SBL tomorrow to discuss the apparent hypocrisy in using his column to scold blogs for spreading rumors while also keeping a rumor-filled blog himself.

Richard Justice is not smiling at bloggers.

· Frank Robinson on Raffy: "Where do you go back, stop and say, 'OK, when did he started using steroids?' To eliminate all that, and get the players' attention, you wipe the whole thing out. Why put the burden on baseball to try and figure out where to go, and maybe put an asterisk? Just wipe the whole thing out."

To answer Frank's first question, I'd say you'd go back to '92-'93 when Canseco and Palmeiro's paths crossed in Texas and Palmeiro suddenly began hitting massive amounts of HRs seven seasons into his career. If you believe Canseco, he taught Raffy how to use and even injected him (and Pudge and Juan Gone).

· Sportz' take on Huggy's dismissal. We'll have TSN's Mike DeCourcey on SBL tomorrow to give his own.

· CFL team encouraged female fans to go wild.

· Mighty MJD shines (as usual) on the Bradley-Kent race feud.

· The Post-Gazette says Big Ben didn't get enough respect in Madden '06. If they thought that was bad, they should've been at my fantasy draft (where Ben lasted well past the 10th round).

· Cheers to KC Joyner (former SBL guest) for his new gig with ESPN.

· Why isn't Madden in the Hall?

· Nats 1st-round 3B/SS Ryan Zimmerman is set to be called up; which makes Bowden's Castilla and Guzman signings look worse than Vince Vaughn throwing a football (remember, he was the QB in 'Rudy'). Seriously, as a Nats fan I can't believe these guys will continue to get DC's money (Castilla through '06 and Guzman through '08).

· In case you missed our NFC North preview on Monday night's SBL, don't worry, you can hear it right now. Of course, it was a "pretty big deal" as we had Peter King, Daunte Culpepper, Roy Williams, a Bears podcaster and a Packers podcaster all on rockin' the mic. And if you missed the show's last segment -- Best Sports Video Games of All-Time Tourney -- please, please, please listen to that as it was one of my favorite Johnny Evers.

Daunte Culpepper Dude, look at Daunte's jewelry.

I think Mr. Justice is just angry that anyone with a computer and a finger to type with can do his job.  Namely, a 2nd grader.

Normally I'd mention journalistic protocol about guys with that much forehead using the word "dweeb" in anything but a self-descriptive terms....

.... or I'd mention that I went to better schools than he did, and probably played more sports, at any level....I mean, what the hell other specialized training did this guy have?

... or that the average Jo on the street in Boston probably knows more about sports than the most well-connected man in Houston.....

....but I just LOVE that Justice guy. Halle Berry was a fool, I tell you....I'd wage an Unconditional Mattress War on Justice. Justice would be served.
