Hearing Astros-Braves in a close one down souf
Drop the Gloves!
I do not know much about hockey, but I do know this: the puck drops tonight and we talked about it on SBL Monday. The featured guest was SI's Michael Farber (he wrote a lot of their preview coverage in this week's mag), and he essentially told us three things:
1. The new rules made the exhibition season "a mess." (But shootouts are cool.)
2. The Flames and Flyers are the teams to beat. (Hopefully he's right about Calgary and wrong about Philly. I also hope the Caps aren't the worst team in the league, because I'll probably be going to three or four games regardless.)
3. Fans aren't going to come back. (Were they ever there?)
Hear the interview with Farber.
Also, it should be noted, one of our favorite bloggers -- Off Wing Opinion -- was bumped from Monday's NHL segment, primarily because I failed, as the host of the program, to keep Reggie Jackson's interview at a reasonable length. I apologize to my friend Eric McErlain over at Off Wing, and I implore you to check out his site. But don't take my word for it, just click on this link that I found on Off Wing earlier today:
Watch the impossibly long hockey fight!
Crosby the Phenom, Gretzky the Coach

Flyers ARE the team to beta. They lost to the Rangers last night but we just have to get use to hockey again. Fan's aren't coming back? Then why did Philly sell more season tickets this year than any other in the past 5 year?
