Sports Bloggers in the News

When it rains for sports bloggers showing up in "real" media, it pours. My Cold Pizza appearance is already old news:

-- An o.g. Pigskin Blogger, Sports Bloggers Live personality and all-around Philly gal Erin McCue from Year of the Bird is featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer's Blinq blog:

"With the latest stats showing about 43 percent of bloggers to be women, it makes sense that there would be some women Eagles bloggers. You just don't get that many that studied at the Sorbonne.

Erin McCue's refinement is apparent when you read her prose or hear her carefully drawn opinions on the twice-weekly Sports Bloggers Live show on AOL.com. She begins her latest post on her Year Of The Bird blog, "At this point, I must ask, is T.O. the biggest punk in the NFL?"

Head over to Blinq blog to read the full post, and be sure to stop by Year of the Bird and leave our lady a nice comment.

-- Also, Sports Business Journal did a cover story on our friend Will Leitch's Deadspin (Gawker's sports blog). The SBJ site is subscription protected, but it's a 14-paragraph article and here's an excerpt:

"In a recent post typical to Deadspin's acerbic style, Leitch lambasted The Sporting News, one of his former employers, for striking a deal to create new sports-themed restaurants in Holiday Inn hotels that a press release said was geared toward Generation X consumers. Not only is the venture years behind similar efforts from ESPN, Fox Sports and others, but Leitch also was quick to point out that neither brand exactly has a youthful edge.

"When you're talking about 'Generation X' and you're talking 'techno-savvy,' and you're talking 'buzz, baby'... you're talking Holiday Inn and you're talking The Sporting News," he wrote sarcastically, adding that The Sporting News was a magazine users' "grandparents" read."

I actually like TSN and am neutral on the Holiday Inn, but Deadspin is a great site. Drop by and say hey to Will.
